Diesel Service Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Service Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, industrial machinery, and farm equipment. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of our fleet and machinery. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, air brakes, and HVAC systems on various heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and electrical system inspections.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Conduct heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and other industrial machinery to facilitate repairs or testing.
  • Follow safety protocols during all repair activities; handle heavy lifting safely with appropriate equipment.
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed for compliance and future reference.

Skills

  • Proven dealership or heavy equipment service technician experience with a strong mechanical background.
  • Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers.
  • Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for complex repairs.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance including shocks & struts, wheel alignment, tire service, brake repair, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and air brake systems.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair along with general automotive repair skills.
  • Skilled in the use of power tools and hand tools for assembly and equipment repair tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working in varied outdoor environments. Pay: $30.12 - $45.00 per hour
