Diesel Service Technician

Duties

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical knowledge to identify issues with diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems.
• Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery.
• Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools and welding techniques to ensure proper fit and function.
• Replace or repair shocks & struts, brake systems, tires, wheel alignments, and suspension components to maintain safety standards.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and assembly techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and electrical system troubleshooting.
• Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and timelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Diesel Service Technician or in a similar heavy equipment repair role within a dealership or industrial setting.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or farm machinery is highly desirable.
• Ability to use various hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques safely and effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
• Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions; willingness to work on elevated or confined spaces when necessary.
• Certification or experience in automotive repair or service technician roles is preferred; dealership experience is a plus.
