Pay rate: $14.00 per hour

Every other weekend required

Weekend shifts ONLY additional $$ per hour (shift differential)

Benefits begin after 30 days of employment

The Dietary Aide will assist the Cook in preparing and serving meals, and will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the Dietary Department.

Assist with food preparation under the supervision of the Cook or Assistant Director of Dietary Services

Prepare beverage items, dry cereals, breads, salads, and desserts according to planned menus for various diets, following diet cards for individual preferences

Follow oral and written instructions
-
Set up carts as directed
-
Perform cleaning duties in the kitchen, storage areas, and dishwashing areas as assigned
-
Remove soiled dishes from dining areas
-
Operate the dishwasher; load and lift heavy racks of dishes
-
Check and record the temperature of the dish machine
-
Store food and supplies as directed
-
Date, label, and store all unserved food and condiments as directed
-
Attend in-service training classes and practice new skills and work habits
-
Use kitchen equipment as assigned after training
-
Understand and utilize emergency equipment
-
Utilize safety standards and maintain a safe environment
-
Remain cordial and tactful with residents, peers, and others
-
Follow established policies and procedures of the Dietary Department and facility
-
Stock and clean diet kitchens, cabinets, and refrigerators at each station
-
Prepare the staff dining room for meal service, replenish supplies, and set up dirty dish cart
-
Complete other assigned duties necessary for the orderly operation of the facility

Education: Some high school coursework, high school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience

Experience: Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions

Skills/Abilities: Attention to detail, ability to follow instructions related to reading recipes, dietary needs, and meal orders. Must be physically able to serve meals and assist residents in eating. Compassion and patience are required when working with elderly residents and their family members.

Stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday; reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate food products, supplies, and equipment

Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents

Able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity
