About this position

The digital content manager will lead the development and execution of digital strategies that promote the organization’s mission, programs, and services. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing content that tells our story, builds trust with families, supports enrollment, and strengthens community relationships.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with a journalist’s mindset, a passion for early childhood education, and the ability to use data and digital tools to ensure our content reaches and resonates with diverse audiences.

We are looking for someone who is results-driven, resourceful, creative, and strategic, with an upbeat, positive attitude, and eager to make a difference in the community.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive content strategy aligned with family recruitment and enrollment goals;
  • Creating, editing, and publishing content for websites, blogs, email campaigns, social media, and marketing materials;
  • Translating complex child care and program information into clear, concise, family-friendly messaging;
  • Maintaining an editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities;
  • Interviewing staff, families, and partners to develop authentic stories and impact narratives;
  • Ensuring consistency in brand voice, tone, accessibility, and style across all platforms;
  • Optimizing content for SEO and using analytics to inform improvements;
  • Using AI tools responsibly to optimize efficiency for the content creation process, including, but not limited to generating and enhancing new content, evaluating content performance, and streamlining content distribution;
  • Becoming familiar with, and utilizing, the content strategy outlined in Marcus Sheridan’s “They Ask, You Answer” and “Endless Customers” that allows for consistent publication of the types of content that significantly drives engagement;
  • Continuing professional development and education in relevant areas (e.g., content technology, HubSpot certifications, writing proficiency);
  • Abiding by all of Options for Learning’s policies and procedures;
  • Attending training as required;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field;
  • Three to five years of experience in content creation or communications (nonprofit experience preferred);
  • Impeccable writing, editing, and storytelling skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interview as a curious and thoughtful listener;
  • Ability to adhere to the organization’s style guide and brand voice guide;
  • An understanding of AP Style;
  • Clear articulation of the business goal behind creating a piece (or series) of content;
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Llama, etc.;
  • An understanding of AI’s role in marketing and how it functions in content creation, predictive analytics, customer behavior, and machine learning for content targeting;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, and social media platforms;
  • Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, and CRM systems;
  • Proficient in project management software;
  • Passion for early childhood education and social impact;
  • California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance;
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.

Job specifications

  • Reports to the director of marketing and recruitment;
  • Exempt, full-time, year-round position;
  • Eight-hour workday, four-day workweek;
  • Hybrid work schedule with approval by management;
  • Organization-wide winter break;
  • Limited evening or weekend work may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at the organization’s discretion.

Salary

  • $75,000 - $100,000 per year (candidates should anticipate receiving an offer within the first quartile of the salary range).
