Position Summary:
The American Indian College Fund (College Fund) strives to positively impact the lives of American Indians by supporting their higher education and career objectives. College Fund team members believe education is the answer and collectively we raise funds, provide scholarships, and holistically support students in achieving their goals.
We are seeking an experienced digital communicator who will combine their love for storytelling and connecting with other people to create an experience for prospective and current supporters in our digital channels including email, social media (paid and organic), website, and events. This position requires someone with the ability to self-start and lead projects based on business needs and marketing opportunities. You will work independently and with a team, be able to project-manage multiple tactics with excellent organizational skills and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Your deep understanding of omnichannel marketing practices, non-profit fundraising, and writing for audiences will support all development strategies by creating a compelling journey that inspires constituents to learn more about us, deepen existing relationships, and compels users to donate to the College Fund because they understand the work we do and how we fulfill our mission. You also enjoy writing and understand the social media dialogue and tone, and its’ role within the marketing ecosystem. You thrive in fast-paced environments and stay current (or even ahead of the trends!) with issues that impact the students we serve and the general population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write emotionally and intellectually compelling copy for all digital platforms (social media, email, and web) following brand guidelines, best practices, our latest market research, and current trends. Have a strong understanding of how information is consumed on different platforms and devices.
  • Develop compelling copy for email campaigns, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, advocacy emails, and student stories. Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, body copy, and calls to action to improve open and click-through rates. Analyze performance metrics to inform future content and optimization strategies.
  • Develop and execute acquisition, retention, and conversion strategies for organic and paid social media campaigns across platforms like Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and YouTube. Identify and engage with trending conversations in both mainstream media and pop culture that are relevant to donors and have an impact on the communities we serve.
  • Moderate and respond to all inquiries on social media platforms, encouraging and thanking donors for their engagement with the College Fund and our content, escalating problems and issues while demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve website performance and visibility including conducting keyword research, writing and optimizing on-page content, and monitoring and reporting on key SEO metrics.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to reinforce marketing strategies and business objectives through content marketing to drive donors through a coordinated end-to-end user experience that measures reach, engagement, and conversion. Contributes to overarching organizational branding concepts.

Required Qualifications:
Preferred Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of digital marketing with proficiency in email, social media and SEO best practices; understanding of non-profit fundraising preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with proven ability to create, proof and edit copy with accuracy and attention to detail in a variety of marketing disciplines
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently organize workload to meet constantly changing demands. Strong project management skills, including ability to set and meet firm deadlines and objectives.
  • Develop and leverage organizational relationships to help others meet goals, measures and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of HTML coding is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning about American Indian education
Education and Experience:
  • BA Degree
  • At least 4 years full-time marketing writing experience (or equivalent)
  • At least 4 years full-time combined email/direct mail, social media, or SEO experience (or equivalent)

Work Environment and Physical Activities:
  • Professional office environment
  • Frequent keyboarding
  • Lifting from 20-30 pounds
  • Travel as assigned up to 5% of work time
