Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Digital Technician to perform maintenance, modification, calibration, testing, and advanced troubleshooting of plant digital and process control systems. This role supports critical plant operations and requires strong hands-on expertise with DCS, PLC, vibration and machine protection systems, and industrial communication protocols in an Oil & Gas environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, modify, calibrate, and test digital and process control systems including DCS, PLC, VMS, and MPS
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance on process control and automation systems
  • Test and repair process control systems to ensure smooth and safe plant operations
  • Conduct routine monitoring and preventive maintenance to maximize system availability
  • Interpret technical documentation: datasheets, vendor manuals, troubleshooting flowcharts, schematics, P&IDs, ILDs, functional blocks, and PLC ladder logic
  • Apply preventive maintenance and diagnostics based on manufacturer specifications and vendor guidelines
  • Perform detailed functional testing on integrated multi-vendor systems (e.g., Bently Nevada MPS, Woodward CCS, Meggitt VMS)
  • Work hands-on with marshalling cabinets, Honeywell C300, Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens S7-400, and I/O modules
  • Support industrial automation networks and system architecture
  • Ensure all work follows permit-to-work systems, safety procedures, and company HSE policies
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and spare parts usage
  • Prepare basic reports and documentation using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Process Control Technician in Oil & Gas with a Diploma in Instrumentation / Control Systems (or similar), OR
  • 6+ years of experience as a Junior Process Control Engineer in Oil & Gas with a Degree in Instrumentation / Control Systems (or similar)

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in process control systems
  • Ability to prioritize daily activities in a fast-paced plant environment
  • Good understanding of:
  • IO index, panel layout, GA drawings, cause & effect, instrument location plans
  • System architecture and industrial automation networking
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • DCS / PLC systems
  • VMS / MPS
  • Fieldbus, HART, Serial communication, Modbus
