The Dining Room Server is responsible for providing a high-quality dining experience for residents in a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). This position supports all aspects of dining service, including meal preparation support, table service, tray delivery, and resident assistance. The Server plays a key role in ensuring residents receive meals in a safe, dignified, and hospitality-focused environment.
This position is cross-trained to support both front-of-house dining service and back-of-house kitchen operations, ensuring smooth meal service, cleanliness, and resident satisfaction. It plays an important role in maintaining a warm, safe, and dignified dining environment while supporting residents’ nutritional and daily living needs.
Duties & Responsibilities: Dining Room / Server Duties:
- Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents and guests
- Greet, seat, and assist residents as needed, including support with sitting and standing
- Take and deliver meal and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
- Assist residents with menu selections and answer basic questions about meals and ingredients
- Deliver meals and retrieve trays from resident rooms as needed
- Assist residents requiring dining support while promoting independence and dignity
- Set up, reset, and clear dining tables before and after meal service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room areas
- Assist with special events, themed meals, and community functions
- Observe and report changes in resident condition or behavior to management
Dishwasher / Kitchen Support Duties:
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment following sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of dish room, kitchen areas, and food service equipment
- Assist with food prep, plating, and kitchen organization as directed
- Properly label, store, and date food items according to facility guidelines
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen and dining support areas
- Follow all food safety and infection control procedures
- Assist with trash removal and maintaining a clean work environment
Schedule:
This position is scheduled for Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Available shifts include:
- 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, or
- 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Schedules may vary based on staffing needs, meal service demands, and facility requirements.

- Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures
- Work collaboratively with dietary and care staff to ensure smooth meal service
- Maintain confidentiality of resident, staff, and facility information
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and resident rights regulations
- Participate in training, meetings, and ongoing education as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior food service, hospitality, or dishwashing experience preferred
- Food Safety Certification required or must obtain within 90 days of hire
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Must complete required facility and state-mandated training
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 75% of the shift
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
- Exposure to kitchen and cleaning chemicals and wet environments
