Direct Care Provider for Adults with I/DD

Position: Direct Care Provider for Clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Status: Part Time, up to 29 hours per week. No full time hours available for this position . Additional hours might be added on Tuesday or

Compensation: $18.00-$20.00 an hour

Schedule:

  • Monday and Thursday from 9:00am-11:00am (can be flexible)
  • Wednesday and Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm (can be flexible)
  • Additional hours might be added with a different client

Position Overview: This position provides direct support to two individuals, a female and a male who reside in the same home. The Direct Care Provider will deliver individualized assistance based on each person’s needs, particularly during times when one individual is present without the other. The role requires flexibility, attentiveness, and the ability to support a range of daily living activities while promoting independence and dignity. We are looking for a provider that is open to add more clients to their schedule.

Job Functions:

  • Assist with personal care routines, including support during showering (for female client only), while maintaining privacy and dignity
  • Help organize and fill weekly medication planners in accordance with established guidelines
  • Provide reminders and encouragement to promote consistency with daily routines and health-related tasks
  • Assist with household tasks, including meal preparation aligned with preferences and dietary needs
  • Support during grocery shopping, encouraging participation and decision-making
  • Provide guidance with basic daily living tasks to promote independence within the home environment
  • Work with individual to meet their formal and informal goals, as well as service plan requirements to help create a meaningful life for others.
  • Supervise and monitor clients to always maintain safety and appropriate supervision levels.
  • Model and uphold ethical boundaries with clients and peers.
  • Transportation of individuals to and from Day Program or individual appointments might be required.
  • Effectively handle problems and navigate day-to-day situations by using sound judgment and maintaining a supportive approach
  • Complete daily notes and goals tracking through Spectrum’s provided online tools and monthly paperwork.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age of older
  • High energy, positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a passion for caring for others.
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record, reliable vehicle with proof of auto insurance. All providers might need to provide transportation in their own vehicle to either Day Program or errands in the community (all time spent transporting clients is part of compensation)
  • Pass a Criminal and Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS) background check.
  • Able to provide all elements of hands-on care per client’s individual needs.
  • Dependable and Punctual
  • Possess a positive attitude, be compassionate and have aptitude to care for others. and the ability to communicate with peers and other staff members.Physical Requirements
  • Able to provide all elements of hands-on care per client’s individual needs.
  • Bend, sit, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Experience

  • At least one year working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

Spectrum provides the following training initially and for recertification:

  • Initial Orientation and On-Boarding
  • CPR/First Aid/Universal Precautions
  • QMAP-Med Administration
  • Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training
