Our client is currently seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager for their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$130k Annually, plus 15% Performance bonus

Position Overview

The Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead high-impact procurement initiatives across key direct spend categories - particularly in mechanical and electronic components. This is a critical role within the global supply chain organization, focused on building strong supplier partnerships, driving cost optimization, and fueling operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be an expert in category management with a proven record of leading global sourcing strategies, negotiating complex contracts, and delivering measurable business value. Responsibilities Of The Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager

  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for direct categories, with an emphasis on category management, tail spend optimization, and supplier innovation.
  • Drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier consolidation initiatives that deliver sustainable business results.
  • Conduct market and spend analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and commercial terms to maximize value while mitigating risk.
  • Partner closely with Supplier Quality Engineering to implement corrective action plans and ensure consistent performance.
  • Develop and maintain category roadmaps to support ongoing innovation, savings, and business growth.
  • Manage supplier performance metrics, resolve escalations, and foster long-term collaboration.
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure seamless execution.

Required Experience/Skills for the Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing and category management experience in direct spend (mechanical, raw materials, or electronics).
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing tail spend and leading global sourcing strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep understanding of cost structures, procurement processes, and market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio).
  • Experience with major ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Ariba.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable strategies.
  • Excellent change management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • Background in electronics sourcing or manufacturing supply chain operations.
  • Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPSM, PMP, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing in large-scale manufacturing environments.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration required.
  • Master's degree or an MBA is preferred.
