Position: Day Hab Direct Support Professional
Department: Day Hab
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30am -3:30pm (35Hrs./Wk.)
Pay Rate: $21.00
General Description
Day Hab Support Staff provide a range of assistance that is appropriate and necessary for the supported individual’s health and well-being while at the program. Direct Support Staff provide direct assistance in learning and maintaining skills. The Direct Support Professional reports directly to and receives weekly and/or as needed support and supervision from their supervisor from within the Day Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required
- At least 18 years of age
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Completion of TB screening and testing
- Completion of Physical including transportation/transfer addendum
- Safe driving record, current driver’s license, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance required, ability to successfully pass criminal background checks
Job Responsibilities

- Maintain a positive relationship with the individuals and their families/guardians
- Maintains open communication and works with all team members
- Responsible for completion of necessary documentation including time sheet, daily progress notes, incident reports, data tracking, etc., in a timely manner.
- Provides reliable and appropriate service to individuals and their families
- Maintains necessary certifications (First Aid/CPR, PBS, PABC) and completes all required training in a timely manner in accordance with program requirements
- Participates in routine established for the program
- Presents professionally and follows established dress code
- Work collaboratively with team of staff in the program to provide individuals with respect and dignity.
- Attend regularly scheduled Staff meetings
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as feeding and toileting
- Support individuals to perform tasks necessary to participate and contribute in activities of their choice.
- Contribute to the development of goals and implement objectives.
- Provides transportation to individuals utilizing agency vehicles
- Represent The Arc of Bristol County/ProAbility’s mission and philosophies in a positive and supportive manner within the community and with the individuals and families we support.
- Adhere to Direct Support Professional job duties and Code of Ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned

The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to use hands in order to handle or feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally be required to lift/transfer up to 50/70 lbs. alone or occasionally up to 200lbs with the assistance of other staff.
