Direct Support Professional

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate, motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in leading fulfilling, independent lives. This position places a strong emphasis on community engagement, helping individuals build meaningful connections and actively participate in their communities.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, feeding assistance, and hygiene
• Facilitate and encourage community involvement such as volunteering, recreational activities, social events, and local outings
• Build positive relationships that promote independence, dignity, and self-confidence
• Assist individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals
• Provide transportation to community activities, appointments, and events as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow care plans
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
• Help individuals explore interests and connect with local organizations, clubs, and events
• Encourage social interaction and relationship-building
• Support participation in employment, education, or volunteer opportunities
• Advocate for inclusion and accessibility within the community

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in human services, caregiving, or related field preferred (but not required)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving history
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centered support
• Ability to pass background checks and meet state requirements
