Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance, ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being while fostering a supportive environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
  • Monitor and document clients’ vital signs, health status, and behavioral changes to inform care plans
  • Administer medications following HIPAA regulations and prescribed protocols
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
  • Support clients during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and independence
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces
  • Follow established care plans and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support

Skills

  • Proven experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize signs of distress or health issues
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid; experience with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or memory care is highly valued
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's <PERSON> lifts
  • Strong communication skills for working effectively with individuals with autism or disabilities and their families
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
  • Compassionate caregiving attitude combined with patience and resilience in challenging situations
