Direct Support Professional (DSP)

A&V Homecare Services is looking for a DSPs to care for our client. The client is located in Sauk Village. As a DSP, you are expected to provide essential, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, with a focus on fostering independence, community integration, and health. The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help the client.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with daily living tasks, administering medication, facilitating community inclusion, job coaching, and cleint advocacy
• Assist client with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
• Assist client with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with physical therapy exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the client (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that client can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Skills

• Prior experience as a DSP
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Good time management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical endurance
• High school diploma or equivalent

Work Hours: Mon Fr 9:00AM - 2:30PM

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
