Director, Academic Success Program

Job Summary:
Teach relevant law courses to students. Responsible for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of academic success programs for law students across all years. Counsel and support students by conducting workshops. Provide strategic leadership in skills-based teaching, support students by counseling and tutoring, and create early intervention initiatives that promote academic excellence, retention, and bar readiness. Demonstrate commitment to student development, and collaborative academic support practices tailored to diverse learning styles and student needs including basic writing and analytic skills.
Essential Functions:
Develop and manage a comprehensive academic success program spanning first-year through upper-division law students.
Teach academic success courses (e.g., Advanced Legal Applications and Foundations of Law) and deliver skills-based workshops (e.g., legal analysis, exam writing, time management).
Provide individualized academic counseling and coaching to students, including those identified as at-risk.
Supervise and train academic success fellows, student assistants, and peer tutors in delivering effective support.
Utilize technology innovations to enhance students’ learning experience
Design and implement early assessment tools and data-driven interventions to improve student outcomes.
Collaborate with Academic Success Faculty to recruit, coordinate, train, and supervise ASP student fellows. to integrate academic skills instruction into the broader law school curriculum.
Track student performance metrics and provide reports to administration on academic trends and outcomes.
Serve on committees focused on academic achievement, retention, and curriculum development as needed.
Work in close coordination with the Director of Bar Success to ensure alignment between academic and bar-readiness efforts.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean or Professor of Academic Success.

Education:
Requires a Juris Doctorate Degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
Law Licensure
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years experience in legal education, academic support, or bar preparation instruction preferred.
Demonstrated success in: Designing outcome-based academic or bar success programs. Building collaborative relationships with faculty and staff. Demonstrated success supporting at-risk or underperforming student populations. Prior law teaching or legal practice experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
A demonstrated record of effective self-starting and follow-through is preferred. Demonstrated success in assisting student learning with the ability to identify methods to enhance learning for multiple learning styles is preferred. The ability to build rapport with all students, including those at risk, and a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of constituencies are preferred. The ability to create, implement, and evaluate academic support is preferred.
Leadership:
Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.
Physical Requirements:
Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc. May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.
Working Conditions:
No major sources of working conditions discomfort, standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to
occasional noise, crowded working conditions, minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems, and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
