This position will serve as the technical leader for AI at CTDI, working with developers and engineers to ensure AI capabilities are integrated into the broader technology portfolio. This individual will work with the teams to establish architectural standards for Agentic AI systems. While AI agents and workflow automation will be a key area of focus, the role will also oversee the selection, lifecycle management, and rationalization of third-party AI tools, ensuring they align with architectural standards, security requirements, and long-term platform strategy.

In addition, this role will provide pragmatic leadership on AI governance, working collaboratively with security, legal, and compliance stakeholders to establish guardrails that enable responsible use of AI without slowing delivery. The emphasis of governance will be on enablement and risk reduction, ensuring AI solutions are production-ready, well understood, and appropriately controlled as they scale across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Business Alignment

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to define CTDI’s enterprise AI strategy, identifying high-impact use cases across operations, IT, and business workflows.
  • Translate business objectives into clear technical and platform requirements for AI solutions, including agent-based and non-agent-based capabilities.
  • Help prioritize AI initiatives based on value, feasibility, and architectural fit.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and evolution of AI platforms, frameworks, and third-party tools (build vs. buy vs. blend decisions).
  • Define and maintain enterprise AI reference architectures, ensuring solutions are:
    • Scalable and reusable
    • Secure and compliant with enterprise standards
    • Observable, supportable, and cost-conscious
  • Guide teams on best practices for designing, deploying, and operating AI-enabled systems that interact with existing applications and data sources.

Third-Party AI Tools & Portfolio Management

  • Own the enterprise AI tool portfolio, including evaluation, onboarding, standardization, and retirement of third-party AI solutions.
  • Ensure vendor-provided AI tools integrate cleanly with CTDI’s architecture, data, and security models.
  • Partner with security, risk, and legal teams to create practical AI governance policies focused on security, data protection, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure AI solutions move from pilot to reliable production systems with clear ownership, monitoring, and support models.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical & Architectural Expertise

  • Strong background in software architecture, platform engineering, data engineering, or enterprise systems design.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML systems, including:
    • AI agent frameworks and orchestration concepts
    • Integration of models into production applications
    • Data pipelines, APIs, and observability for AI workloads
  • Solid understanding of security, scalability, reliability, and cost management in enterprise environments.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex AI and architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience defining standards, reference architectures, and best practices adopted across multiple teams.

Experience & Education

  • 8–12+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, software engineering and architecture, or data science roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale platforms or shared technology capabilities from design through production.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies and vendors in a pragmatic, business-aligned manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field
