The Director of Assurance and Audit (Design) will lead quality oversight of all design-related activities across development projects, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya's strategic objectives and quality standards. This role is responsible for establishing and enforcing robust design assurance processes, guiding cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all design outputs meet functional, technical, and regulatory requirements. The Director will play a key role in risk management, audit readiness, and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability across internal teams and external partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the design assurance across all development projects, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya's quality standards and strategic objectives.
2. Assure pre-delivery stage gate deliverables related to design quality, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and readiness for downstream processes.
3. Ensure design quality requirements are clearly defined and consistently applied throughout the procurement process.
4. Ensure contractors and consultants adhere to the design quality assurance process, including compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
5. Assure design outputs and ensure they meet functional, technical, and quality requirements.
6. Monitor implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) during the design phase and report on performance metrics.
7. Escalate critical design-related quality risks and support resolution in collaboration with project and development teams.
8. Engage in quarterly lessons learned workshops focused on design assurance, in coordination with Development and Assets Business Units.
9. Support the development and implementation of the annual audit plan, focusing on design assurance.
10. Conduct internal audits and witness third-party audits related to design quality.
11. Track and manage audit findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions related to design processes.
12. Perform risk assessments specific to design activities and support the development of mitigation strategies.
13. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the design assurance domain.

Qualifications:

• BSc in Engineering or similar degree (e.g., UK Level 6)
• Chartered Design Engineer
• Certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System Lead Auditor
• Over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the construction and design industries, with a strong track record of managing complex, high-impact projects.
• More than 10 years of specialized experience in independent certification and design assurance roles, ensuring compliance with quality standards, codes, and project specifications.
