JOB SUMMARY:
The Director - Clinical Engineering directs, coordinates and governs all functions related to the planning, assessment, development, deployment and maintenance of all biomedical and Research equipment as well as integration of biomedical equipment with Sidra’s EMR system. Also responsible for managing the Sidra’s Nurse-Call and Real Time Location System RTLS. Acts as the leader in the management of medical equipment technology and related technical training programs for technical staff in regards to equipment operations, standards and maintenance. Responsible for developing Sidra’s Medical Equipment Management Plan and the organizational policies and procedures related to medical equipment at Sidra. Responsible for providing quality and timely support by planning, organizing, controlling and coordinating the activities of the Biomedical Engineering division within the framework of existing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. The department utilizes a quality management system and to be compliant to MoPH and JCI and its reporting requirements.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES;
Creates and implements Sidra-wide plans, equipment budgets, organizational and departmental policies, procedures and systems for the effective functioning of the division and to ensure that it meets the strategic and operational objectives of Sidra.
Leads the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of biomedical engineering management programs, including the establishment of operational standards and effective industry specific key performance indicators.
Oversees the ongoing management and development of the departmental workforce in including establishing departmental-wide strategies, policies and systems for workforce planning, recruitment, retention, occupational health and safety, education and training and performance management.
Ensures the provision of quality support for all medical equipment services in terms of service, delivery, efficiency and cost effectiveness, and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
10+ years of experience with progressive responsibilities in a BME department in a healthcare facility (250 bed or larger) inclusive of
Experience utilizing hospital-wide RFID/RTLS programs
Certification and Licensure
Certification in Biomedical Engineering
P-ENG/BMET/ICC certified/CBET/ICC/
Job Specific Skills and Abilities
Technical background in multiple areas of Biomedical Engineering (i.e. OR, Anesthesia, Imaging, Laboratory, IT/IM Systems etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge of JCIA, AAMI, ECRI, NFPA, ANSI, FDA and the ability to implement the latest standards
Enterprise-wide use of HECS, AIMS or Integrated CAFM/CMMS (Vision FM, St. Croix, TMA, Four Rivers, etc.).
