About the Role:
The Advanced Analytics and Insights Director will play a critical role developing the Advanced Analytics and Insights Function to drive deeper insights, make predictions, and generate recommendations that optimize Neurocrine’s commercial portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Director of Commercial Insights and Analytics, this individual will be a highly visible commercial leader who will evaluate and introduce advanced analytics techniques, employ sophisticated analytical methodologies, and incorporate predictive analytics to inform decision making for channel optimization/strategy, customer targeting, patient journeys, promotional mix, ROI measurement, brand spend optimization, sales force effectiveness, etc. The individual must be a strong collaborator, proficient at analytics and strategy design using large and complex data sets, and with strong business acumen to generate and contribute innovative thinking and ideas that create meaningful value for the organization.
This is a newly created position for an individual contributor; however, the individual may grow a team in the future as the value of the function is demonstrated. The role will require someone with strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
Lead the utilization of advanced analytic techniques (AI/ML, Predictive modeling) and algorithms leveraging complex and disparate data to inform a broad range of commercial applications, including channel optimization/strategy, patient journeys, customer targeting, promotional mix, ROI measurement, brand spend optimization, sales force effectiveness, etc.
Leverage a deep understanding of real-world data sources, such as anonymized longitudinal patient claims data, EMR, lab/diagnostic testing data, etc. to conduct patient-level analytics
Provide high quality solutions and answers to ad hoc analytic requests, content expertise and problem-solving with senior corporate stakeholders helping to shape key strategic decisions
Plan, direct, oversee, and provide thought leadership for advanced analytical approaches, including artificial intelligence/machine learning that aligns with business insight needs, and are forward looking
Create insightful visualizations and effectively communicated them when reporting results/insights; help non-technical audiences make sense of complex datasets and methodologies
Evolve the commercial analytics capabilities and analytics tools to improve decision making and meet the needs of a growing product portfolio
Lead story development and presentation of analytical insights to ensure stakeholder buy-in
Be a subject matter and expert provide input on key strategic issues
Manage relationships and overall project management with external vendors, sales leadership, brand teams and other commercial stakeholders across the commercial organization
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 10+ years of experience; advanced quantitative discipline degree preferred
10+ years of biotech/pharma/life sciences industry experience with relevant experience in Business Analytics, including predictive modeling, machine learning, omnichannel analytics, and patient level data analytics
Track record of innovation through machine learning and statistical algorithms and their applications. Relevant expertise in using analytic tools such as Excel, SAS, SPSS, SQL, Python, R, ML, S-plus/R, E-views, ILOG, and able to quickly master new packages when needed strongly preferred
In-depth understanding and experience using advanced analytic techniques to assess strategic business issues/opportunities with demonstrated results that lead to business growth
Ability to connect analytics with the overarching business questions, and can understand the link between brand strategy and analytic insights
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate actionable analytical findings to a non-technical audience in clear and concise language
Ability to anticipate future analytics trends and learn and implement new tools and capabilities to enable the company’s leadership in pharma analytics
Experience working with patient claims data and other large data sets
Strong analytical and organization skills experienced in managing multiple projects budget development and tracking, analytic resources, vendor/consultants and cross-functional teams
In-depth strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skill
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to senior management
Work both independently and in a team environment with a record of effective functional and cross-functional collaboration
Hybrid role (minimum requirement to work 2-days/week in San Diego office)

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $179,400.00-$259,700.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
