JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Content Strategy & Delivery leads the AOA’s Content Strategy and Delivery Center of Excellence responsible for unified content strategy, brand identity, creative development, publications, and social media. This role oversees the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-channel content vision that advances the AOA’s mission, strengthens brand presence, and enhances engagement across audiences. This function oversees cross-platform content strategies, maintains cohesive brand messaging, and manages content development teams.
The Director will also help shape the modernization of AOA content workflows through the integration of GenAI tools and establish a scalable content governance and delivery framework.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Governance
- Develop and maintain a unified content strategy aligned to AOA organizational and profession wide goals.
- Establish content pillars, messaging frameworks, and brand standards to ensure consistency across all channels.
- Build and oversee content governance processes, including workflow design and quality standards.
Creative, Editorial, and Publication Leadership
- Lead content development across digital, print, social, video, and experiential formats.
- Direct editorial operations and modernization of AOA publications, including The DO and The Journal of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Oversee the editorial calendar and ensure timely production of high-quality content.
Brand Identity & Storytelling
- Steward the AOA brand identity, ensuring alignment across creative, web, editorial, and digital expressions.
- Develop compelling content and storytelling approaches that strengthen the AOA’s reputation and visibility.
Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Lead the strategy and execution of AOA social media content to increase audience engagement and brand reach.
- Develop repeatable content franchises and digital storytelling formats that expand visibility.
Performance, Analytics & Monetization
- Define KPIs and oversee performance measurement for content across channels, including SEO, social, publications, and campaigns.
- Apply analytics to optimize content and demonstrate ROI.
- Identify and cultivate content monetization opportunities.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a cross functional team of editors, web, strategists, designers, and content creators.
- Manage agency partners and external contributors to support content development.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance team culture.
- Collaborate with peers responsible for integrated marketing and corporate communications to ensure alignment between corporate messaging, brand narrative, and marketing initiatives.
- Oversee relationships with external agencies, consultants, and communications partners.
- Manage COE budget and allocate resources to support strategic priorities.
- Partner effectively with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure alignment and integration of content initiatives and streamlined workflow.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Special Skills:
- Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated, cross-channel content strategies that drive measurable outcomes.
- Experience overseeing editorial operations, publication management, and content governance systems.
- Expertise in brand content, creative direction, and digital content ecosystems, including SEO and social media.
- Experience with content and data analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Power Bi.
- Familiarity with CMS, GenAI content creation hubs and modern content workflow technologies such as Google Studio, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, WordPress and Squarespace.
- Familiarity with CRM, Salesforce preferred
- Familiarity with association software is a plus.
- Strong writing, editing, communication, and leadership skills.

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field.
Licensure or Certification:
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, digital marketing, or brand engagement.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Physical:
- Work is generally sedentary in nature, but requires occasional standing, walking, lifting and moving objects (up to 25 pounds). Requires manual dexterity to use computers, telephones and peripherals. Incumbents may occasionally work prolonged or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

- Work is performed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Candidates are expected to be able to quickly adapt to stressful situations, exercise good judgement, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and interact appropriately with internal and external stakeholders.
ENVIRONMENT:
- Normal office environment.
- Hybrid position requires an in-office presence each Tuesday and Wednesday.
Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 Annually
