This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading multiple teams of cybersecurity professionals that are tasked with the planning, coordination, and continual improvement of enterprise-wide cybersecurity programs. The director of assurance services provides leadership to the application security, enterprise vulnerability management, and red teams.

A successful director at Starbucks is a self-starter, a natural problem solver, collaborative, and able to work well with adversity and ambiguity. You should have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, a deep technical understanding of modern cybersecurity threats, and a validated track record of a hands-on approach to leading and maturing programs in highly targeted environments at scale. Success for the role will be the delivery of a world class program that is positioned to address, contain, and drive successful resolution to any cybersecurity situation.

As a director cybersecurity, assurance services, you will…

Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:

  • Models leadership behaviors that are grounded in Starbucks Mission and Values.
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
  • Supports the implementation of enterprise programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.

Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:

  • Plan and manage process and practices to ensure delivery of a world class Cybersecurity program.
  • Establishes key performance indicators and proactively reports to stakeholders on performance of Cybersecurity activities and metrics, and related risk posture.

Technical Design and Implementation - Providing technical expertise and executing technical responsibilities:

  • Responsible for metrics and clear communication on the state of the work group and associated programs.
  • Partner with other teams to continuously improve and advance the organizations operational security capabilities.
  • Define, build, and operate world class application security, vulnerability management and red team operation programs.

Partner Development and Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and building an effective team:

  • Build and lead a team that supports each other, makes others feel welcome, and succeeds (or fails) together.
  • Challenge and inspire your team to achieve world class results.
  • Support partners in their career growth.
  • Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.


Ownership
– Taking accountability for the quality and success of the outcome of your team’s work:

  • Defines and maintains processes, procedures, and expectations for the work group’s support responsibilities.
  • Ensures that the appropriate support documentation exists.

We’d love to hear from people with:

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working in an information technology discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in Cybersecurity
  • 8+ years of experience of leading and developing highly performing teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CIPM, or others focused on cybersecurity, data privacy or information risk management.
  • Previous experience leading a red team function.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead the day-to-day tasks of diverse teams, while effectively influencing senior leadership

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.


The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
