Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently delivers our innovative services. Meta’s Energy Team is seeking an experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help us grow our centralized energy functions and analytics capabilities to manage our data center portfolio as the business scales. This person will manage a team of energy professionals – both people managers and individual contributors – focused on energy analytics, contract management, portfolio management, regulatory tracking and contracting for energy services for our growing fleet of data centers. The Director, Energy Operations will support the continued development and execution of cross-cutting scope required to scale Meta’s Energy team and also to give end-to-end visibility of Meta’s portfolio of data centers and clean energy projects. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading inside Meta and supporting skills building and growth of other professionals to success. Ideally scope would have engagement in data analytics, tooling, project management of cross-cutting scope, asset management and internal partnerships required to ensure success of strategic objectives. Bringing these different parts of the organization together under this role is aimed to functionally tie them together; bringing a mindset to drive for synergies in approach and collaboration within these functions and across the Energy team will be critical to success. This position will report directly to the Director of Global Energy.


Director, Energy Operations Responsibilities:

  • Manage a growing team of energy personnel, including people managers who oversee Analytics, Operations and Asset Management
  • Guide the development of team priorities for Analytics, Operations and Asset Management pods in partnership cross functionally across Energy and the strategy for executing on them to ensure capability to meet broader organization business
  • Scale tooling and systems with key people leaders inside Operations pods to create integrated end-to-end dashboards for the Energy business that align to needs to IDC and IDCS leadership
  • Provide guidance and strategic support to the team on engagement with cross functional leaders (including Finance, Legal, Accounting, Sourcing and Policy), as needed
  • Collaborate with Energy Leads to design success metrics of Operations org that include measurement by impact delivered by other Energy pillars
  • Build or implement solutions that will increase efficiency of energy managers and enabling scaling of the energy portfolio
  • Support continued evolution and execution Facebook’s analytics approaches to match changing landscape externally and data needs internally
  • Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in managing teams and building processes to help scale organizations
  • Experience leading teams through change, growing resiliency
  • Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with all internal and external stakeholders and consultants
  • Experience in and with utilities



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with financial operational models for data centers, identifying key risks and sensitivities, and engaging with finance counterparts on topics
  • Experience in communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels
  • Experience in leading negotiations and projects

$231,000/year to $292,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
