Director, Health Economics and Reimbursement

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Develop in-depth materials to demonstrate product value including economic models, value dossiers, and slide presentations in partnership with the marketing and Global Health Economics (GHER) team members.

  • Develop economic tools in support of new product launch readiness

  • Identify areas of evidence development to support product claims (e.g., economic value)

  • Monitor and report on reimbursement and payer landscape specific to EW portfolio

  • Participate in the strategic direction of the GHER organization specific to their assigned Business Unit (BU)

  • Data mine from various sources to identify areas of opportunity for EW products and procedures (e.g., cost savings, quality of life improvement)

  • Develop economic tools to include cost effectiveness analyses, budget impact models, and cost benefit

  • Manage day-to-day operations for certain projects including developing tools or messaging through value process

  • Identify and develop internal processes to optimize GHER efficiencies

  • Manage and oversee the work of the Health Economics & Reimbursement team and may have financial budget responsibilities. Develop a robust talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies of the department.

  • Identify risk and develop / lead in the implementation of broad and more complex health economic process improvements strategies which may include negotiations with internal and external parties

  • Plan and direct complex activities with large scale or significant business impact with the accountability for successful completion of all deliverables. Lead in identifying risk, developing mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues in collaboration with cross functional and/or matrix teams

  • Other incidental duties

What you’ll need (Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree + 12 years of experience in health economics and / or outcomes research and reimbursement -or- Master’s Degree in related field + 10 years of related experience

  • Experience working with customers (primarily hospitals and physicians), trade associations, professional and medical organizations and ability to develop mutually beneficial health economics and reimbursement strategies and tactics to support portfolio planning, commercialization, and sales/ marketing objectives

  • Experience working in a regulated industry

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with intricate planning and strong tactical execution.

  • Proven track record of leading thought, plans and actions that result in desired business impact

  • Proven successful project management skills

  • Proven expertise in SAS, SQL, Tableau, Python, Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management

  • Extensive technical knowledge of biostatistical areas in the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards

  • Extensive understanding of key public and private payer policy infrastructure, medical device payment methodologies, coding and coverage basics, and/or health policy trends.

  • Extensive understanding of medical device industry, especially with functional responsibility in reimbursement planning, program implementation, and health economics and outcomes research.

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Represent leadership on sections of projects within a specific area interfacing team members and other managers and may include suppliers, vendors, and/or customers

  • Demonstrated ability to manage one or more teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations

  • Expert understanding of medical device industry, especially with functional responsibility in reimbursement planning, program implementation, and health economics and outcomes research.

  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $170,000 to $241,000 (highly experienced).
