JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs within the supply chain department. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote a culture of safety, and drive sustainability initiatives that align with corporate and environmental objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Strategic Contribution • Direct the implementation of the annual business plan and targets and implement the strategic agenda of the Health, Safety, and Sustainability department to deliver NADEC vision and mission. • Ensure that the strategy is translated into operational business plans for the facility Management department and monitor the performance and execution of those plans to achieve functional objectives and deliver the company’s strategy. Leadership • Direct the activities of the Health, Safety, and Sustainability team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures. • Build and lead a motivated, engaged and competent team, by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet the functional challenges and goals. • Serve as a role model to ensure employees’ awareness and commitment to NADEC vision, mission, values, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated team, and continuously improve performance. Budgeting • Lead the preparation of the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon. Core Accountabilities: • Health and Safety Leadership: o Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees across supply chain operations. o Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions to mitigate hazards. o Lead health and safety training programs, ensuring all personnel are educated on workplace safety standards and practices. o Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps. o Develop and implement corrective action plans to address compliance issues. • Sustainability Initiatives: o Drive sustainability efforts by identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency. o Develop and implement programs to minimize waste, manage emissions, and promote sustainable supply chain practices. o Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align sustainability initiatives with business goals and industry best practices. • Regulatory Compliance: o Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changing legislation. o Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory bodies, maintaining transparent and accurate documentation. o Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. • Strategic Planning and Implementation: o Develop long-term HSS strategies that support overall business objectives and create a culture of continuous improvement. o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSS priorities into the broader supply chain strategy. o Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance HSS performance and operational efficiency.
o Prepare detailed incident reports and conduct root cause analysis. o Implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues. • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: o Establish KPIs for health, safety, and sustainability metrics, tracking progress and reporting to senior leadership. o Analyze incident data and sustainability performance, using insights to inform future initiatives and improve outcomes. o Provide regular updates and presentations on HSS activities, challenges, and achievements. • Leadership and Culture Building: o Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HSS professionals, fostering collaboration and high performance. o Provide ongoing training and education on safety topics, including hazard recognition, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use. o Develop and deliver comprehensive HSS training programs for all employees. Policies, System, Processes and Procedures • Manage the development and implementation of the Engineering policies, systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas for improvement, to ensure efficient and effective operation. • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to all relevant regulatory directives to ensure a safe and risk-free environment. Change Management • Motivate the employees and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering best practices. • Ensure that all departmental reports and statements are completed timely and comply with local and international principles of governance and the organization's policies and standards.
. JOB CONTEXT • Director - HSS Management will be working in Head office and might have to travel as and when needed. 2. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal Department (Within NADEC) • All relevant departments External External Customers / Companies / Clients (Outside NADEC) • All relevant parties 3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: Education and Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. • Advanced degree (Master's) preferred. • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
• 8-13 years of experience in health, safety, and sustainability roles, preferably within the supply chain or manufacturing industry. • Proven experience in a leadership role within a complex supply chain organization.
Skills: • English (Written and Spoken) • Arabic (Written and Spoken) Preferred • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). • Analytical skills and attention to detail. • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • software such as ERP/SAP • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and security regulations and standards.
