This is a full-time, twelve-month professional position that reports to the Vice President, Operations. The Director, Marketing & Communications provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all TJC marketing, communications, public relations, and brand management functions. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that drive student enrollment, enhance institutional reputation, and ensure consistent brand messaging across all internal and external communication channels. The Director serves as the primary authority for all TJC marketing and communications, ensuring compliance with brand standards, web accessibility guidelines (ADA), and institutional policies.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Strategic Planning & LeadershipDevelop and implement integrated marketing strategies aligned with the College's mission, strategic plan, and enrollment goalsProvide strategic direction for all marketing, branding, communications, photography, videography, and publication effortsServe as advisor to senior leadership on matters concerning internal and external communications, including crisis communications Lead public relations efforts that enhance institutional reputation and community presenceMarketing & EnrollmentCreate data-driven marketing plans using analytics, market research, and performance metrics to optimize campaigns and measure ROIPlan, develop, execute, and evaluate targeted multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive student recruitment and retentionDevelop and manage informative, engaging, and motivational digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms Partner with Admissions, Registrar, Advising /Testing to align marketing strategies with enrollment prioritiesMonitor campaign performance and adjust strategies based on analytics and market trendsCommunications & Public RelationsOversee all internal and external communications to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with TJC’s valuesManage crisis communications and serve as primary spokesperson during emergencies, including natural disasters, health crises, and unexpected eventsMaintain strong relationships with media representatives and coordinate strategic media outreachBrand Management & Content DevelopmentEnsure consistent application of brand standards across all TJC communications, publications, and marketing materialsDirect the development and maintenance of the College website, ensuring optimal user experience, search engine optimization (SEO), and ADA/WCAG complianceOversee management of all social media platforms and digital presenceProvide content writing support and editorial oversight for all institutional communicationsCOMPETENCIESKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCollaboration/Teamwork, Computer Software Skills, Customer Service, Data Analysis, Decision-making, Internet Research, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Math Skills, Multi-tasking, Negotiation, Written Communication, Organizational Skills, Presentation /Public Speaking, Problem-solving, Project Management, Time Management, Typing/Word ProcessingSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirect Supervision (10)Total Department Size (10)Work Environment: Regular work required outside of normal business hoursPhysical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, lifting, drivingTravel Required: Yes - MinimalIf travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
