About Job
The Director of Medical Billing will lead end-to-end billing operations with a strong focus on project management, process improvement, and quality assurance. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance, improving collections, and delivering high-quality outcomes across multiple clients and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

Own and lead the medical billing function across multiple projects, clients, and teams.

Translate business goals into structured billing, quality, and delivery roadmaps.

Act as a senior escalation point for complex operational, client, and compliance issues.
Project Management
-
Lead large-scale billing transitions, new client onboarding, system implementations, and process change initiatives.

Define project scope, timelines, KPIs, risks, and deliverables.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal revenue disruption.
Quality & Compliance

Design and oversee Quality Assurance frameworks for billing accuracy, compliance, and productivity.

Monitor audit outcomes, denial trends, error rates, and rework metrics.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Operational Excellence

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce denials, improve first-pass yield, and accelerate cash flow.

Standardize workflows, SOPs, and best practices across teams and clients.

Partner with technology teams on automation, reporting, and billing system optimization.
People & Performance Management

Lead, mentor, and develop managers, team leads, and senior billing professionals.

Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and build high-accountability teams.

Build succession plans and leadership depth within the function.
Client & Stakeholder Management

Act as the senior operational contact for key clients.

Present performance reviews, quality metrics, and improvement plans to stakeholders.

Collaborate with Sales, IT, Compliance, and Finance teams.
Key Skills & Expertise

Deep expertise in medical billing and revenue cycle management (professional and/or facility billing).

Strong project management experience handling multi-stakeholder, multi-location initiatives.

Proven background in quality management, audits, and compliance.

Data-driven decision-making with strong reporting and analytical skills.

Excellent leadership, communication, and executive-level presentation skills.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Healthcare Management, Business, Finance, or related field (Masters preferred).

10+ years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations.
-
5+ years in a senior management or director-level role.
