The Director of Nursing Education is a Registered Nurse who assumes overall responsibilities for the effective and efficient direction of the Division of Nursing Education. Provides Administrative direction and leadership to staff in matters related to education, program development, clinical competency of Nursing staff and staff development, and in matters related to the provision of clinical resources for the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric patient. Directs and manages successful development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical practice as it pertains to the needs of the Patient Care Division and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the operational budget at/or below the budget approval.
  • Coordinates and directs information systems and application enhancements and conversions within the nursing department.
  • Participates as a team member for projects/enhancements of IT systems for clinical input and appropriateness.
  • Facilitates hospital-wide and nursing research projects in collaboration with the Research Department and as a member of the IRB.
  • Develops and facilitates the implementation of nursing education activities which are consistent with learning needs assessment of nurses at all levels in the organization.
  • Assures policies and procedures governing nursing practice are evidence based and within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
  • Assures the ANA scope and standards of the nursing professional development is applied appropriately.
  • Applies the ANA scope and standards of Nursing Informatics.
  • Amplifies, magnifies, and clarifies the SFH Professional Nursing Practice Model and the Magnet Philosophy.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required (specialty Education or Administration) Doctorate or Post Graduate preparation preferred.
  • Licensed as a Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Certification in professional nursing organization.
  • Previous teaching and/or administrative and a minimum 5 years clinical experience.
  • ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association.
Posted Salary Range: USD $134,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr. :

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
