We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Athletics & Physical Education to lead the development of a vibrant, inclusive, and high-performance sports program across the IB continuum (PYP, MYP, and DP). This leadership role is responsible for building a cohesive athletics vision that supports the IB mission of developing well-rounded, resilient, and globally minded learners.
The ideal candidate will drive excellence in physical education, competitive sports, and student well-being while fostering a culture of teamwork, integrity, and lifelong fitness. Based in Bangalore, this position requires an inspiring leader who can mentor educators, engage families, and position the school as a leader in holistic sports education.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Develop and execute a long-term vision for athletics and physical education aligned with IB principles.
Establish clear goals, standards, and performance benchmarks across all grade levels.
Align sports programming with the school’s broader academic and co-curricular objectives.
Curriculum & Program Development
Design and implement a vertically aligned, age-appropriate PE and sports curriculum.
Ensure integration of skill development, physical literacy, teamwork, and character education.
Promote student agency, reflection, and well-being within the athletics framework.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and evaluate PE teachers and sports coaches.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous professional development, and instructional excellence.
Build capacity within the department through training and performance reviews.
Events, Competitions & Talent Development
Plan and oversee inter-house, inter-school, regional, and national sporting events.
Identify and nurture athletic talent, supporting pathways to competitive and representative participation.
Represent the school in athletic associations and sports networks.
Operations & Compliance
Ensure safety standards, risk management practices, and safeguarding protocols are consistently upheld.
Oversee maintenance and effective utilization of sports facilities and equipment.
Develop and manage annual budgets, resource allocation, and improvement plans.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build relationships with external academies, coaches, and sports organizations.
Engage parents and the wider community in promoting a strong sports culture.
Encourage inclusivity, participation, and sportsmanship across all ability levels.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related discipline (B.P.Ed / M.P.Ed preferred).
Experience
Demonstrated experience leading and managing comprehensive school sports programs.
Experience within an IB framework is highly desirable.
Proven track record of organizing large-scale sports events and competitive programs.
