Job Summary and Qualifications

**LOCATION: FREDERICKSBURG, TX**

The Director of Clinical Informatics (DCI) is the facility resource responsible for the implementation, adoption, integration, and operational oversight of applications used by clinical staff in the provision and documentation of patient care. The DCI coordinates the completion of project assessments, the development of education plans and materials, and the optimization of workflow and systems for new implementations, upgrades, and enhancements. This individual is the facility liaison between ITG and clinical staff. The DCI participates in company-wide communities including Systems Governance and Operations (SGO), Clinical Informatics Applications (CPOE, Evidence Based Order Sets, Provider Documentation, ePrescribe), EHR Optimization, Nursing Informatics / Evidence Based Clinical Documentation, Promoting Interoperability, and the Clinical Information Integrity Program (CIIP).

Essential Job Functions:

1. Assumes leadership role in the implementation of clinical applications, change management, and support after go live.

a. Serves as clinical lead for all provider and clinical staff facing technologies and EHR related initiatives

b. Evaluates impact of changes to workflow and processes by identifying gaps and opportunities.

c. Provides communication to executive team, medical staff committees, facility leadership, and other stakeholders.

2. Develops, executes, and supports education plan, tools and resources focused on the EHR and other clinical informatics applications including new implementations, scheduled maintenance/enhancement releases, and new onboarding of new providers.

3. Facilitates and provides project leadership of clinical informatics systems implementation that support clinician workflow.

4. Provides Go-Live support or ensure support plans and resources are in place for all affected clinicians.

5. Encourages and supports system adoption and optimization.

a. Monitors system use through reports and dashboards.

b. Participates in facility rounding and seeks feedback from providers and other clinical staff.

c. Identify gaps and opportunities in departmental process mapping of current state and develop action plan to address areas of concern.

6. Provides input, updates, and communication at medical staff, clinical leadership, and other hospital committees.

7. Participates in system performance improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness, improve clinician and patient satisfaction, maintain the integrity of the electronic health record (EHR), and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

8. Resolves complex issues and requests escalated from the division Service Desk or other division/facility service resources.

9. Interfaces with ITG to ensure standardization and compliance with best practice models, specifically as it relates to the integrity of the electronic health record.

10. Participates in change control committee, division and facility-based committees, and attends all nursing and facility leadership meetings to represent the informatics space.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Minimum – Bachelors of Science in Nursing or Clinical Bachelor’s degree Requirement waived for internal employees that have been in a Director role supporting clinical informatics prior to January 2023.
  • Five (5) years clinical hospital experience.
  • Five (5) years of clinical EHR support experience and proficiency in MEDITECH and clinical support duties
Preferred

  • Three (3) years of experience in a management position.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
  • Active RN or other clinical license
