Director of Clinical Specialty Solutions

The Director of Clinical Specialty Solutions provides strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio of clinically intensive and procedure-based technology domains, serving as the primary bridge between clinical operations and information technology. This role exists to balance leadership workload across the IT director team while ensuring strong clinical voice, credibility, and advocacy in enterprise decision-making.

This leader is responsible for end-to-end ownership of clinical specialty application strategy, performance, and adoption across Operating Room (OR), Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy, Neurosciences, Clinical Engineering applications, and other clinical specialties.

The Director will partner closely with physician, nursing, pharmacy, and operational leaders to ensure technology solutions are safe, effective, user-centered, and aligned to clinical workflows and enterprise priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for clinical specialty applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and clinician adoption.
  • Serve as the clinical-facing IT leader for assigned solutions, building trusted relationships with physicians, nursing leaders, pharmacists, and operational executives.
  • Translate frontline clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and patient safety considerations into technology roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with enterprise clinical informatics, quality, safety, EPIC leadership and operations leaders to standardize workflows, optimize systems (including EHR-integrated solutions), and support enterprise initiatives.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contract performance, service levels, and issue resolution for assigned application portfolios.
  • Direct budgeting, resource planning, staffing, and prioritization for clinical specialty solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial stewardship.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, security, and patient safety standards applicable to clinical systems and specialty technologies.
  • Participate in enterprise governance structures, providing informed clinical perspective in technology, prioritization, and investment decisions.

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role supporting clinical applications, clinical informatics, or healthcare operations.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at the intersection of clinical practice and information technology, with credibility among clinical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead complex teams and influence peers in matrixed, enterprise healthcare environments.

  • Ability to speak fluently with clinicians and technologists, translating between clinical needs and technical execution.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, negotiate, and lead across disciplines.
  • Decisive judgment, critical thinking, and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
  • Proven people leader with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Financial and operational acumen, including budgeting and resource management.

Pay: $144,872 - $231,795 annual base pay. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
