Director of Communications-Marketing: This role leads the development and execution of multi-channel marketing initiatives, digital campaigns, and storytelling efforts that bring the brand to life across platforms.

What We’re Looking For:

The Director of Communications & Marketing plays a vital role in amplifying the mission and impact of the Indianapolis Foundation. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing, this role leads the development and execution of multi-channel marketing initiatives, digital campaigns, and storytelling efforts that bring the brand to life across platforms.

You’ll manage day-to-day marketing operations, lead digital content strategy, and ensure high-quality campaign execution that resonates with diverse community audiences and stakeholders. Cross-functional project management will be a key component of the role. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The following are the essential responsibilities and requirements necessary for a person to do this job:


Campaign Execution & Project Management

  • Translate brand and marketing strategy into executable campaigns and outreach plans.
  • Lead cross-functional project timelines, deliverables, and vendor coordination for organizational-wide initiatives.
  • Manage content calendars and ensure timely, consistent delivery of brand-aligned communications.

Digital Marketing & Engagement

  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies (email, SEO/SEM, social media, website).
  • Monitor and optimize campaign performance using analytics and reporting tools.
  • Ensure digital channels are accessible, engaging, and aligned with Indianapolis Foundation’s brand voice.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Collaborate on the development of compelling content (articles, social media, video scripts, email copy) that elevates community voices and reflects the foundation’s mission.
  • Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and designers as needed.

Social Media Management

  • Oversee day-to-day social media management across platforms.
  • Monitor trends and engagement to optimize content and build community online.

Brand Consistency & Quality Control

  • Uphold brand standards in all materials and messaging.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, look, and voice across all platforms and departments.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with programs, advancement, and community leadership teams to gather stories, share impact, and drive engagement.
  • Support internal communications as needed to reinforce organizational culture.
Requirements:

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in marketing, digital communications, or related roles.
  • Experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficient in content management systems (e.g., WordPress), email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools a plus.
  • Passion for community impact, equity, and inclusive storytelling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible hybrid environment (in office three-four days a week).
  • Occasional evening or weekend events may be required.
