The Senior Director of HR (Core HR) leads the organization in core, centralized HR functions, to include benefits, compensation, HRIS, and compliance. This dynamic and passionate leader partners closely with the HR leadership team in our mission to elevate the experience of each of our 1000 + employees across the country at ALIGN. The SD HR Core leads our core HR team and ensures execution of a consistently superior experience in the employee journey. They provide vision and oversight into total rewards strategies, HR systems, and ensuring compliance within all HR functions. They will be instrumental in shaping a cohesive and collaborative HR team, communicating clearly and often and bringing energy and positivity to the team. The SD HR Core collaborates with the HR team to deliver HR initiatives that fulfill the firm’s strategic objectives and leads proactively, identifying gaps and taking the lead on filling them. They bring solution-based leadership and critical problem-solving skills; they operate strategically but with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.

The SD HR Core will be responsible for leading special projects as we focus on continued process improvement and aligning our HR function with a one-team approach, sharing best practices and creating efficiencies. They will be a passionate advocate for ALIGN’s people while carefully balancing the needs of the business, consistently utilizing sound judgement and strong business acumen. The SD HR will lead will integrity and authenticity, create and sustain a culture of accountability, and exercise humility and respect in all interactions with team members of all levels and positions across the business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and administers the Total Rewards for the enterprise with a focus on competitiveness and retention

  • Manages and administers all benefits programs, to include medical, dental, vision, disability and ancillary plans, and worker’s compensation.

  • Partners closely and negotiates with insurance broker and vendors to shape benefits offerings aligned with the needs of a geographically dispersed business

  • Manages the benefits open enrollment process, claims resolution, invoice approval, and regulatory compliance

  • Evaluates benefits and compensation effectiveness and review competitiveness within the insurance industry and local markets

  • Leads benefits and retirement/investment committees, working with outside counsel as needed

  • Manages compensation practices, to include preparation of annual salary reviews, market analysis, bonus programs, and rewards and recognition

  • Maintains overall responsibility for HRIS and provide valuable reporting from the HRIS/payroll system to effectively utilize in benefit analysis, comp equity analysis, and for HR metrics and reporting

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws, in addition to ISO and other associated business requirements

  • Provides leadership to the HR team, clearly communicating with transparency, sharing information and best practices, and celebrating achievements of HR team members across the business

  • Ensures standardized and compliant practices across the business; helps establish, enforce and evaluate HR policies, processes and best practices across the business

  • Aids in centralizing essential functions within HR, creating processes that work well and make sense for both employees and the company

  • Acts as a brand ambassador, recognizing external opportunities to highlight the achievements of our great teams and attract top talent; maintains a social media presence that drives potential and current employees to come to and stay with ALIGN

  • Seeks professional development, inspiration, and new ideas through the involvement of associations and professional organizations

  • Researches and recommends competitive compensation, benefits, employee incentives, and rewards and recognition programs

  • Assumes supervisory responsibilities for HR team members in geographically dispersed locations


Qualifications:

  • Experience and Education:

  • Master’s degree in HR or HR-related field preferred

  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred

  • CPSP (Certified Plan Sponsor Professional) Certification highly preferred

  • 10-15 years’ experience in the human resources field working with organizations of various sizes and complexities

  • Technical Skills:

  • Experience partnering with insurance brokers and leveraging available data and services to improve internal benefits offerings

  • Experience developing 401(k) investment committees and managing a 401(k) plan

  • Proven success crafting benefits plans that reduce costs while optimizing coverage for a geographically dispersed employee base

  • Experience working with large scale organizations of 1,000+ employees and geographically dispersed workforces is highly preferred

  • Strategic, critical, and creative thinking skills required, as well as comfort with complexity and ambiguity

  • Ability to orchestrate a multitude of critical deliverables and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Clear, honest and articulate communicator

  • Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management

  • Operates with total discretion and sound judgment

  • Leads with a strong focus on the highest level of customer service, delivering solutions and guidance to the HR team, operational leaders, and employees with a white glove and hands-on approach

  • Highly organized with an eye for detail, paired with the ability to see the big picture

  • Ability to obtain and utilize data-driven insights to shape educated assumptions and strategies


  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and succinctly with employees and external contacts at all levels

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and HRIS tools

  • Knowledge and experience with UKG/Ultipro highly preferred

  • Excel skills (pivot tables, v look-ups) highly preferred

  • Experience leading organizations through mergers and acquisitions highly preferred

  • Physical Requirements:

Supervisory Responsibilities: If direct reports are assigned, responsibilities listed below.

  • Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned staff.

  • Directly supervises individual contributors in technical positions and/or entry level professionals.

  • Estimates staffing needs.

  • Assigns work.

  • Recommends candidates for employment and makes recommendations for termination.

  • Conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.

  • Responsible for the application of company policies.
