Job Description:

The Director of Data Center Operations & Scaling will spearhead the strategic oversight and operational management of our data centers, focusing on enhancing performance, scalability, and reliability. This role requires an innovative leader with a strong technical background in data center operations, capable of steering large-scale projects while ensuring the alignment of strategies with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of data center infrastructure, cloud technologies, and industry best practices in operational efficiency. A key function of this role will be to mentor and develop a high-performing operational team, driving a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Furthermore, the successful candidate will engage with C-suite executives and external stakeholders to influence decision-making processes regarding capacity planning and investment in technology infrastructure.

Job Requirements:

• A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in data center operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale data center transformations and expansions.
• Extensive knowledge of data center architecture, including server, storage, and networking, as well as cloud solutions and virtualization technologies.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to create and manage budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Expertise in developing and implementing operational policies and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams, with a focus on cultivating talent and fostering a performance-driven environment.
• Ability to analyze complex operational challenges and devise innovative solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating with executive leadership and fostering stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated experience with data center automation and orchestration technologies to improve operational efficiency.
• Comprehensive understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity planning in data center environments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of multiple data centers while ensuring optimal uptime and performance, in accordance with SLAs.
• Develop and execute data center strategies that align with the organization’s long-term vision and operational goals.
• Mentor and lead a functional team of data center technicians, engineers, and operational staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to integrate new technologies and streamline existing processes to enhance scalability and efficiency.
• Establish and enforce operational standards, protocols, and safety measures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
• Implement cost-management strategies to maximize operational efficiency and minimize resource wastage across all data center operations.
• Engage with executive leadership to communicate operational performance metrics, risks, and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations for improvement.
• Lead initiatives to optimize physical security, cooling, power distribution, and other key components within data center facilities.
• Foster strong vendor relationships to negotiate service contracts and ensure high-quality support for data center operations.
• Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies to future-proof the data centers against evolving industry demands.
