Director of Digital Marketing

Role Overview

The Acceleration Project (TAP) is a nonprofit empowering under-resourced small businesses through pro bono consulting, training, and community programs. We're looking for a bold, strategic Director of Digital Marketing to build and own our digital growth engine.

This is not a traditional marketing role. This is your chance to shape TAP's voice, expand our national reach, and drive real impact for small business owners, consultants, donors, and partners at a critical moment in our growth.

If you've ever wanted a role where your creativity, strategy, and drive directly fuel a mission that matters, this is it.

You'll translate organizational priorities into measurable digital strategies across campaigns, content, search, community, and digital infrastructure, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a lean, fast-moving environment.

Full-time | Primarily Remote | Occasional in-person in Westchester/NYC

Key Responsibilities

Digital Campaign Execution & Audience Acquisition (25%)

Lead TAP's digital acquisition strategy across social, email, and search to expand reach and drive pipeline growth.

  • Design and execute multi-channel campaigns that drive measurable conversion
  • Build scalable lead generation strategies across small business owners, consultants, donors, and partners
  • Develop national outreach campaigns and leverage AI tools to accelerate testing and optimization

SEO, AEO & Generative Search Optimization (20%)

Own TAP's discoverability across both traditional and AI-powered search environments.

  • Improve rankings across key pages (consultant portal, program pages, services) in partnership with the Sr. Director of Technology
  • Create content that positions TAP as a trusted authority in search results and AI-generated responses
  • Build credibility through reputable publications, industry resources, and knowledge platforms
  • Track and report via Google Analytics, Search Console, and AI visibility tools and deliver clear, executive-ready insights

Social Media Growth & Paid Social (15%)

Build and scale TAP's digital voice across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube.

  • Develop a high-quality content strategy that elevates TAP's brand and drives engagement and lead generation
  • Grow reach through short-form video and emerging formats
  • Test and scale paid social strategies where ROI is clear
  • Use performance data to continuously refine content and stay ahead of trends

Community Strategy & Platform Management (15%)

This role owns the digital execution of TAP's community strategy and works closely with the Director of Community Engagement on program-side community initiatives.

  • Manage and grow TAP's Circle.com platform with a consistent cadence: weekly digests, bi-monthly webinars, and ongoing discussion facilitation
  • Establish TAP's presence in external communities to drive awareness and inbound interest
  • Translate engagement into real business outcomes, tracking interactions across clients, consultants, and donors
  • Mine community conversations for insights that sharpen TAP's messaging, content, and program positioning

Email Marketing (10%)

Own email as a core channel for engagement, conversion, and retention.

  • Design segmented campaigns and automated sequences in MailChimp using native AI features
  • Continuously test and optimize open rates, click-throughs, and program inquiry conversions
  • Craft compelling, on-brand copy across newsletters, events, donor asks, and recruitment emails
  • Integrate video into at least 50% of email blasts to maximize engagement

Website Content & Conversion Optimization (5%)

Ensure the website functions as a high-performing growth engine not just a digital brochure.

  • Maintain and optimize content across programs, impact stories, and landing pages
  • Drive 60+ second session times and 20%+ YoY traffic growth
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Technology to align structure, messaging, and search performance

Consultant Recruitment Marketing (5%)

Connect purpose-driven talent with meaningful work.

  • Build targeted campaigns across LinkedIn and professional networks that communicate TAP's consultant value proposition
  • Optimize the recruitment funnel from awareness to application using key performance metrics

AI-Enabled Marketing Innovation (5%)

Keep TAP at the cutting edge of what's possible in digital marketing.

  • Integrate AI tools to improve speed, content quality, and campaign performance
  • Stay ahead of trends in digital marketing, search, and AI and share what you learn
  • Bring forward high-impact innovations that push TAP's capabilities forward

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 5 to 8 years of digital marketing experience, preferably in nonprofit, cause-related, or mission-driven organizations
  • Deep fluency in SEO, AEO/GEO (generative search optimization), Google Analytics, and Search Console
  • Proven social media growth experience across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Strong MailChimp proficiency including automation, segmentation, and A/B testing
  • Fluency in AI-enabled marketing tools for content creation, campaign optimization, and performance analysis
  • Experience managing community platforms (Circle, Discourse, or similar) and community-to-business conversion
  • Paid search (Google Ads/Google Grants) and paid social (LinkedIn) experience a strong plus
  • Proficient in Canva, Google Suite, Monday.com, and website CMS platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear strategy and ROI reporting
  • Exceptional writer and content creator across multiple formats and audiences
  • Self-directed and comfortable in a lean, remote-first, fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about closing the wealth gap and supporting under-resourced small businesses

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Generous PTO
  • Health and dental insurance
  • 403(b) retirement plan
