Director of Divestitures and Portfolio Optimization
The Director of Divestitures and Portfolio Optimization leads the identification, evaluation, and execution of portfolio optimization opportunities, including divestitures, carve-outs, and strategic exits. The role is responsible for maximizing enterprise value, improving portfolio quality, and supporting leadership decisions through rigorous financial and strategic analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the divestiture and portfolio optimization strategy across business units and asset classes.
- Identify assets, businesses, or product lines that are candidates for divestment, rationalization, or restructuring.
- Lead financial, commercial, and strategic analysis, including valuation, business case development, and scenario modeling.
- Prepare investment memoranda, board materials, executive presentations, and decision papers for senior leadership.
- Manage end-to-end transaction execution, including due diligence, partner selection, approvals, negotiation support, and close planning.
- Partner with finance, legal, tax, operations, strategy, and business leaders to ensure alignment and execution readiness.
- Track portfolio performance, monitor value creation, and recommend actions to improve returns, reduce complexity, and strengthen strategic fit.
- Oversee governance, milestones, risk management, and reporting for all divestiture and optimization initiatives.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, engineering, or a related field; MBA or CFA is often preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in corporate strategy, M&A, divestitures, portfolio management, investment banking, consulting, or related leadership roles.
- Strong background in financial modeling, valuation, strategic analysis, and transaction execution.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives in complex organizations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Experience in large, matrixed, or multinational organizations is highly desirable.
Preferred skills
- Experience with carve-outs, separations, joint ventures, or business transformations.
- Knowledge of portfolio governance, capital allocation, and post-divestiture transition planning.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into executive-level recommendations.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously.
Pay: QAR115.00 - QAR225.00 per hour
