Director of Education at Daycare Facility

Job Summary

The Director of Education provides overall leadership for all education programs at the Yellow Springs Community Children's Center, including guidance and leadership in instruction and curriculum planning.

This is a leadership role requiring compliance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) childcare licensing regulations and the Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) Gold Rating standards.

• Prefer candidate who is familiar with Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline.
• Develops and maintains a sustainable process for children moving from early education programs to kindergarten.
• Works with teachers and administration to develop a master schedule that utilizes staff and building resources for greatest effectiveness.
• Confers with parents and staff to discuss educational activities and policies and students’ behavioral or learning problems.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates teachers and supplemental educational staff and carries out personnel actions, as necessary.
• Maintains employee files for licensing and monitors that staff remains current with required trainings.
• Works with staff to encourage and support furthering their professional development.
• With Executive Director, acts as liaison with parents, the community, external agencies, promotes positive Center image.
• With Executive Director and Board, coordinates special events at Center such as 100th Anniversary.
• Teaches classes or courses or provides direct care to children, if needed.

Qualifications

• Prefer candidate with a Child Development Associate credential
• A 2-year college degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Must have 2 years of experience in childcare or education field.
• One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
• Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the ProCare software.
