- Oversee all physical plant operations, including maintenance, engineering, and safety compliance
- Plan, direct, and evaluate departmental activities in accordance with all applicable regulations and guidelines
- Manage and execute work order and preventative maintenance programs
- Monitor the condition of the building and grounds, planning for repairs, equipment, and supply needs
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, architects, engineers, and service providers
- Administer the community’s Risk Management and Safety Programs
- Lead departmental projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality and safety standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and job descriptions
- Train, coach, and support team members on policies and operational standards
- Develop and manage the department budget, forecasts, and staffing plan
- Ensure efficient use of resources and alignment with financial goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and operates with a high level of independence and judgment. The Director of Engineering leads and manages the Engineering department team, including hiring, training, performance management, and daily oversight.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in physical plant operations, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality
- Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems required
- EPA Certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Strong working knowledge of machinery, tools, and repair techniques
- Experience with building systems including fire panels, emergency response systems, and phone systems
- Knowledge of safety procedures and disaster preparedness
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 pounds
