What would you do as a Director of Finance
The Director of Finance is a key member of SwimRVA's senior leadership team, responsible for the financial health, compliance, and strategic financial planning of the organization. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to the Executive Director, bringing clarity and insight to complex financial decisions while upholding the integrity and mission of the organization.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing nonprofit at a pivotal moment-SwimRVA is managing a multi-facility capital project, expanding programming partnerships throughout the region, supporting the aquatics industry with workforce development programming and hosting events on the national stage. The Director of Finance will help ensure the financial infrastructure keeps pace with that momentum.

To thrive as the Director of Finance at SwimRVA, you'll need a blend of technical prowess and soft skills that will make you a financial superstar! A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or a related field is required, alongside a solid 5 years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 2 years in the nonprofit sector. Your demonstrated expertise in fund accounting and nonprofit financial reporting standards (GAAP for nonprofits) will be crucial.
Mastery of accounting software like QuickBooks and comfort with financial reporting tools are essential for keeping our financial ship on course. Strong analytical skills will empower you to dive deep into data, while your exceptional communication abilities will help convey complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences. If you also have a CPA or MBA, familiarity with capital project accounting, and experience in multi-site payroll systems, you'll be well positioned to make a splash in our organization!
