Director of Finance

College related degree or six years work experience.

  • Plan and handle the cash flow of each and every legal entry.
  • Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting procedures such as payrolls, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Oversee preparation of all Federal and State payroll reports and remittances.
  • Oversee preparation and completion of weekly client payroll (2) and bi-weekly staff payroll (4).
  • Interpret laws, rules and regulations, and fiscal policies and procedures as they apply to each corporation.
  • Devise and install accounting systems and procedures along with methods of reporting.
  • Adapt and augment accounting procedures of unusual or specialized transactions.
  • Prepare special statements, reports and schedules using discretion as the most suitable format for presentation.
  • Determine propriety of accounting and prepare required entries.
  • Review comparative revenue and expenditure data to facilitate the preparation of budget estimates in other departments.
  • Prepare and finalize reports on grant funds and other inquiries.
  • Maintain general ledger and controls over subsidiary records.
  • Prepare and interpret financial statements.
  • Control workflow and schedule work to meet required deadlines.
  • Maintain proper accounts with banks, signs checks, keep proper balances and appraise section mangers of cash flow.
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Participate with other managerial staff in the formulation and administration of Center policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintenance and upgrades of IT equipment, software and services and for physical protection of equipment and data protection.
  • Oversee proper storage of documents in the Safety Deposit Box.
  • Take lead on Audit preparations, engagement and interpret results.
  • Follow Board recommendations for financial reporting and accounting functions.
  • Devise / Embrace continuous quarterly improvement methodologies and evaluate staff and programs for strategies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and checks and balances.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Essential Requirements of Work

Working knowledge of theory, principles and practices of accounting and auditing; of the theory and practice of cost accounting; elementary knowledge of common business

Administration. Ability to understand, interpret and apply State and Federal Laws, rules

and regulations governing fiscal operations; to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial statements and reports; to prepare brief written reports; to recommend methods and procedures for properly controlling financial transactions; to develop and maintain working relationship with managerial staff. Review the Accounting Manual duties annually and update as needed.

Nature of Work

This is an advanced entry and promotional level of professional, experienced accounting and administration. It involves complete financial responsibility with only top administrative guidance needed. Administrative and other business needs must be interpreted and implemented. At this level, the employee has contact with state officials, senior fiscal employees, private employers and/or government officials. While independent resolution of problems is needed, rather than just acquisition and dissemination of information to supervisors, this must be done with full recognizance of the Board of Directors' , CEO and the COO’s general guidelines.

The CEO & COO are kept appraised of unusual and impacting changes and development, and direction is sought from her. Reporting is done to the CEO & COO. Under her direction, she may request an appearance before the Board of Directors for input and reporting. An employee in this class is responsible for the fiscal operation and preparation of recommendations for revisions of accounting and auditing procedures.

Mentoring of staff, assessment of training needs and assist with workforce development. Supervise all accounting staff.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
