Position Summary:
DG Foods LLC is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead all HR functions across our multi-site poultry processing operations. This role serves as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for aligning the employment strategy with business objectives while driving a high-performance, compliant, and engaged workforce.
The Director of HR will oversee HR operations at both our Hazlehurst, MS and Bastrop, LA facilities, providing leadership in employee relations, compliance, talent management, organizational development, and workforce planning.
This position requires a strong operational mindset, senior leadership presence, and the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Strategic Leadership

Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with company growth and operational goals

Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership team

Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives

Drive culture initiatives that support engagement, accountability, and performance
HR Operations & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, EEOC, OSHA, USDA-related workforce implications, etc.)

Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs across all locations

Maintain audit readiness (DOL, ICE, I-9/E-Verify, and customer compliance expectations such as BRC/SQF alignment)

Overall responsibility of all required employee training, maintenance and storage.

Lead investigations and resolve complex employee relations issues
Talent Management

Oversee recruitment strategy for hourly and salaried roles across both plants

Develop retention strategies for a high-volume workforce

Implement performance management processes that drive accountability and results

Support leadership development and frontline supervisor capability
Compensation

Design and manage competitive compensation programs aligned with performance and operational metrics

Assist in benefits administration

Ensure accurate and timely payroll information provided to the payroll department.

Ensure internal equity and external competitiveness

Lead employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and action planning

Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment

Drive communication strategies across all levels of the organization
Team Leadership

Lead and develop plant-level HR teams (HR Managers, Supervisors, and Clerks)

Establish consistent HR practices across locations

Build a high-performing HR function focused on service, accountability, and results

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

5 to 10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership in a multi-site or manufacturing environment

Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance

Proven experience leading HR in a high-volume, hourly workforce environment

Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive organizational change

Experience in poultry, food processing, or manufacturing environments is preferred
-
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certification is desired.
Physical Requirements:

Regular exposure to both office and plant environments.

Must be able to travel periodically, including overnight travel.
