Job Summary
Due to our continued growth, we are currently recruiting for a qualified Director of Indirect Procurement reporting to the Vice President of Global Procurement. This individual will lead strategic procurement functions and category managers to drive total cost of ownership improvements.
Design strategic sourcing plans of various indirect categories and provide oversight and governance of associated service acquisitions, contract negotiations; perform category spend analysis; and design and implement category and supplier risk mitigation strategies. Must have corporate indirect purchasing experience along with experience in logistics contracting.
The position has been created to lead the strategic sourcing and category management in its efforts to leverage the Company’s indirect purchasing spend across specific categories that spans multiple business units and geographies. The new position will implement a center led organization that will think global and act local. This role will lead a major transformation of existing indirect sourcing & procurement practices, and drive, design, and reengineer existing processes into standardized products and practices throughout the enterprise. Participate and coordinate sourcing activities across multiple functions and categories such as Logistics, T&E, IT, Marketing, MRO, Sampling, Facilities Management and Capital Equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Establish strong relationships with the team members and suppliers
  • Establishes sourcing strategies for assigned spend, collaborates to insure incorporation and business unit participation
  • Leads the negotiations and to minimize total cost of ownership for goods and services. Oversees strategic sourcing methodology, RFIs/RFPs to ensure compliance with required policies and procedures.
  • Provides, supports and influences the strategic planning process as it relates to strategic supplier price, quality, services, and innovation
  • Assessment of supply rationalization to optimal levels
  • Maintains market knowledge, trends and assessment of global trade, and labor to identify strategic opportunities to develop the current and prospective supplier base.
  • Collaborates with senior management and executive levels to establish short-term and long-term business objectives for the indirect procurement function in alignment of corporate objectives and financial goals.
  • Contract management and monitoring service performance and contract to budget, identifying price variances and total cost of ownership.
  • Formalizes process of ongoing supplier base research and analysis, ensuring procurement team maintains an updated portfolio of options and sourcing trends.
  • Builds relationships while working closely with all levels of executives across the organization to identify and lead strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Invest in building relationships and communicating the vision to key stakeholders to transform organizational thinking in indirect procurement.
  • Audits and governs procurement policies and procedures to ensure standardization of information collection to obtain competitive advantage to cycle sourcing process efficiency; institute spend analytics, services segmentation and internal audits, performance and compliance measurement
  • Manage and develop a high performing, motivated team of procurement professionals responsible for the development and implementation of strategic sourcing events (people, processes and technology).
  • Work with business unit leaders and stakeholders to prioritize sourcing activities
  • Oversees all activities related to the management of assigned spend, from intent to purchase through delivery of service
  • Recruit, maintain and manage world-class suppliers with focus on total cost of ownership improvements while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
  • Ensures and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, terms/conditions, and acceptability of items to specifications
  • Responsible for timely reporting to agreed upon KPI's
  • Develop strategies that align with business unit strategies and priority for spend portfolios that are under your responsibilities
  • Utilization of data analysis skills to effectively identify value opportunities.
  • Challenge status quo through managed approach and sophistication.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • Must have a BS/BA from an accredited University. Preferred MBA.
  • 10-15 years sourcing/procurement experience
  • Indirect procurement experience Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses, with knowledge in commercial contracting with Logistics provider with Small Parcel, TL, LTL and Ocean carriers
  • Certifications a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, etc.
  • Analytical - ability to analyze strategic options and their direct potential and indirect impact on the organization
  • Project management & problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Must be able to work and effectively communicate with all levels of the company and suppliers
