Director of IT
Role Profile
Position Summary:
The Director of IT position is exempt and provides strategic leadership and is the single point of accountability for the University Co-op's technology function. The top accountabilities aligned with this role for success are leading, managing and holding people accountable (LMA), IT strategy and roadmap, IT vendor and partner relationships, IT governance, policies, and security, ensuring reliable operations, champion service excellence and continuous improvement. This position will report to the VP of Finance.

Key Accountabilities & Achievements:
- Lead, Manage, and Hold People Accountable (LMA)
- Leads, manages, and ensures accountability within the IT team by clearly defining roles, simplifying processes, and creating a culture of ownership to execute the strategic roadmap.
- IT Strategy & Roadmap
- Owns the "Grow" pillar by developing and executing a pragmatic, actionable IT roadmap that aligns technology with future business goals and prepares the company for long-term success.
- IT Vendor & Partner Relationships
- Manages all IT vendor and partner relationships to ensure they provide maximum value, align with the strategic roadmap, and are held accountable for their performance and contractual obligations.
- IT Governance, Policies, and Security, Ensuring Reliable Operations
- Establishes and manages the "Protect" pillar's policies, security protocols, and compliance standards to guarantee the integrity and reliability of all day-to-day "Run" operations.
- Champion Service Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Champions a culture of service excellence by establishing a continuous improvement framework, implementing user feedback mechanisms, and tracking service KPIs to reduce friction and deliver measurable improvements to the organization.
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology.
- 3-5+ years in a leadership role with responsibility for strategy, budget, and staff management.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing an IT strategy and roadmap.
- Proven track record of managing strategic vendor relationships, including contract negotiation and performance management for outsourced infrastructure, network, and security services.
- Experience in developing and implementing IT governance and policies from the ground up.
- Experience overseeing the evaluation and implementation of AI or process automation (RPA) initiatives to drive operational efficiency.
- Comfortable being a hands-on backup for Business Systems Administrator.
- NetSuite or similar ERP, and big data experience
- Microsoft Suite with advanced Excel
Physical Demands:
- Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
- Continuous sitting, standing, walking, using stairs, hearing, talking, bending, crouching, and working closely with others.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Work Environment:
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
- Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- Indoor and outdoor work environments
- Onsite, with flexibility for hybrid on occasion, hours of work are Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and/or weekends during peak periods.
