Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking a Director of Network Operations and School Support to join our Operations team for the 2026–27 school year.

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS) is a free, open-enrollment public charter school system in Newark, New Jersey, educating students from Pre-K to 12th grade. The Director of Network Operations and School Support ensures that school-based Operations teams have the systems, resources, and support needed to execute excellent operations across all campuses. This leader strengthens and maintains the policies, procedures, and operational structures that enable schools to run effectively.

By monitoring operational performance, auditing systems, and supporting campus operations leaders, the Director helps ensure strong and consistent operational practices across the network. The Director also develops systems that provide network-wide visibility into school operations, supporting continuous improvement and alignment.

This role requires a combination of strategic leadership, strong operational judgment, and attention to detail, and works closely with campus leaders and network teams to support the organization's instructional mission. The Director reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities.

1. Central Office Operations & Network Support

Provide operational leadership and coordination for central office functions and network-wide initiatives to ensure strong, aligned operational systems across all campuses.

• Coordinate central office operational needs including network staff meetings, convenings, internal staff events, supplies, and administrative support.
• Lead cross-network operational initiatives such as school launch, state testing preparation, and development of operational toolkits.
• Oversee procurement and implementation of instructional and operational software platforms, including reporting and staff training.
• Partner with finance, technology, facilities, health office and food service teams to maintain strong operational systems across campuses.
• Lead and support network-wide operational projects including assessment coordination, facilities initiatives, safety and security, and technology subscription management.

2. Operations Team Oversight & Development

Lead, coach, and hold Campus Operations Managers accountable for executing network operational standards and delivering strong operational performance across all campuses.

• Directly manage and coach 3-4 Campus Operations Managers, providing guidance, problem solving, and operational support.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and professional development of operations staff.
• Collaborate with School Directors on performance evaluations and leadership development of Operations Managers.
• Design and deliver onboarding and professional development for operations staff across the network.
• Lead recruitment processes for operations roles and advise campus leadership on candidate selection.

3. Operational Performance, Data & Campus Support

Drive operational excellence by building strong accountability systems, supporting campus operations leaders, and using data to continuously improve school operations.

• Monitor operational performance through scorecards, audits, and evaluation systems.
• Manage operational dashboards and track key metrics and network goals.
• Identify performance trends across campuses and implement strategies to strengthen operations.
• Provide direct support to campuses in areas such as facilities readiness, procurement systems, technology infrastructure, and school safety.
• Communicate operational expectations, updates, and guidance to campuses while building systems that increase network-wide visibility into school operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required, graduate degree preferred
• 5+ years of school-based and/or professional management experience, particularly in an urban education or non-profit setting
• Significant experience leading school-based or network-level operations, with a strong track record of building and maintaining systems that enable effective campus execution
• Proven people leadership skills, including managing, coaching, and developing operations staff while holding teams accountable to high standards
• Strong operational judgment with the ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional initiatives, and execute with attention to detail and urgency
• Data-driven and systems-oriented, with experience using dashboards, scorecards, and key metrics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement
• Ability to identify trends across campuses and implement strategic solutions to strengthen operational consistency and effectiveness
• Skilled collaborator and communicator, with experience partnering across functions (e.g., finance, technology, facilities) and supporting school leaders to achieve shared goals

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School offers a competitive and equitable compensation package aligned to years of relevant experience. The minimum base salary for this role is $105,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
