Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Overview

The Director of Nursing leads all nursing services for Healthcare and Emergency Solutions within the correctional facility. This role ensures safe, compliant, and patient‑focused nursing care while supporting staff development and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise nursing staff and daily clinical operations
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, facility protocols, and regulations
  • Oversee quality assurance, infection control, and patient safety programs
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and facility leadership
  • Support staff training, scheduling, and performance management

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing experience, including supervisory responsibility
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to pass a correctional facility security background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP, CCHP‑RN, or CCHP‑N)
  • Director of Nursing Services – Certified (DNS‑CT)
  • Experience in correctional, emergency, or forensic mental health nursing
