General Summary
Under limited supervision, the Director of Nursing Practice is a registered Nurse who is vested with responsibility for ensuring safe, effective and appropriate patient care throughout the nursing division. The director of Nursing Practice serves as a link between the hospital’s vision and the clinical departments and staff. The director of Nursing Practice is a visionary leader focused on improving outcomes; models constructive behaviors, facilitates change and problem solving; coaches employees in performance enhancement; and teaches skills and techniques need to achieving excellence. The director of Nursing Practice has direct access to support service resources essential to nursing and patient care, and maintains line authority over divisional managers, Nursing supervisors, and Nursing management support staff, as assigned. The director of Nursing may provide hospital administrative coverage in the absence of administration at a higher level.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, Master’s Degree and professional certification required. Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Five years of progressive management experience in the field of hospital nursing, with strong experience in; Lean process improvement, project management, leveraging EMRs, experience in developing relationships across a health system and hospital entities with all levels of employees, skill in developing and managing to budgets and proven administrative ability.
