This is an opportunity for candidates who know they want entrepreneurial experience to build a system, a company and industry, all at the same time. This work will be executed by a high performance team that will include VP of Project Management and Engineering, local Site Managers, Project Managers, Electrical/Project Engineers, and with EPC contractors deployed across a portfolio of work. The portfolio is generally the energy generation and delivery infrastructure, and other site utilities. What You Will Do
We are seeking a Leader of Operations to oversee the transition from construction to operations for our infrastructure projects, starting with the private grid-connected Main Lancium Substation. This GW-scale microgrid supports AI data centers with fast-ramping, high-demand loads and integrates BESS, GT, and PV tie-ins.This role will be responsible for:
Leadership & Culture
Champion a strong safety and security culture across Site Operations.
Serve as a key liaison with top leadership and escalate during critical events.
Operational Excellence
Ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance: uptime, power quality, response times.
Manage vendor ecosystem with clear KPIs, contracts, and escalation procedures.
Reliability & Maintenance
Build and expand preventive and condition-based maintenance programs.
Manage spare parts strategy for critical and long-lead components.
Customer & Power Quality
Own client SLAs for availability, response times, and power quality.
Maintain change management, as-builts, and cybersecurity hardening.
Compliance & Security
Ensure regulatory, interconnection, and permit compliance.
Oversee environmental health and safety programs, OSHA compliance, and contractor onboarding.
Budgeting & Reporting
Build and manage OPEX budgets (LTSAs, PM, spares, insurance, telemetry, fees).
Deliver weekly operational reports, monthly executive updates, and quarterly risk reviews.
Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with SCADA, Power Orchestration, and other internal teams.
Engage directly with key data center customers on performance, planning, and escalations.
What We Want From You
Four (4) year degree in Electrical or Power Engineering, with extensive practical work experience in high 100’s MW electrical and electro-mechanical applications, specifically with extensive electrical construction experience, advanced degree, and Electrical PE qualification (or similar experience).
Professional Engineering / PMP Certification preferred
15–20+ years in utility-scale power operations (HV substations, microgrids, storage, generation) with 5+ years leading 24/7 operations or a control room and experience dealing with emergencies.
Able to work with confidential information in a professional manner.
Abilities as a demonstrated team builder for not only safety and security culture, but also morale.
Demonstrated success meeting strict SLAs for industrial or data-center customers, by experience with Hands-on with protection & controls, EMS/SCADA, plant controllers, and PQ troubleshooting, with expert 3rd party assistance.
Strong vendor/OEM management and contract performance enforcement (LTSA, KPIs, LDs). Excellent incident command, Root Cause Analysis, and stakeholder communication skills.
