Director of Operations – Transportation

The Spirit of the Position:

The Director of Operations – Transportation supports the General Manager with complete oversight for financial, operational, safety, and service success at all shuttle locations within the East Texas Market. The DOO is directly responsible for all operational aspects in the market with oversight from the General Manager. Shuttle Operations Managers will report directly to this role.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the financial, operational, safety, and service success at all shuttle locations within the market.
  • Develop and execute strategies to maximize revenue, control expenses, and ensure profitability across all shuttle operations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, responsiveness, and delivery of exceptional service standards.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for service enhancements and revenue growth while ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities of all Shuttle Operations Managers.
  • Ensure that increased revenue, controlled expenses, and customer satisfaction are maximized by maintaining the highest level of safety & service thresholds and initiatives aligned with client expectations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, vehicle inspections, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee safety training programs for drivers and staff, including defensive driving, emergency response, and passenger safety protocols.
  • Promote a culture of safety through consistent communication, reporting, and recognition of safe practices across all shuttle locations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

People

  • Ensure daily operational meetings and client resume meetings are attended by Shuttle Operations Managers or designated team members.
  • Ensure LAZ internal meetings (Pre-Shifts) are held each shift through Shuttle Operations Managers, Supervisors, or Shift Leads.
  • Assist with the management and development of shuttle teams to accomplish annual and periodic goals/initiatives, while embodying and using LAZ Parking’s culture as a guideline.
  • Identify high-potential employees to support the organization’s continued growth, both within your region and outside.
  • Actively participate in the recruiting and onboarding process for all shuttle accounts.
  • Ensure all safety initiatives from the National Safety & Training Manager are rolled out to new and existing employees.
  • Process and resolve any and all safety concerns within shuttle accounts, using the National Safety & Training Manager as a resource where needed.
  • Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities of the Transportation Silo within the market.

Product

  • Drive service results and establish goals by monitoring and responding to client feedback and LAZ service metrics.
  • Responsible for cultivating client relationships and business retention.
  • Implement and complete other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise from the operation of assigned shuttle locations.
  • Understand, implement, and deliver all requirements outlined within the contractual agreement between LAZ Parking and our clients.
  • Responsible for planning and executing the opening of all new shuttle locations within the market.
  • Participate in proposals, underwriting, and presentations for transportation-related business development within the market.
  • Prepare, review, and submit shuttle agreements within the market to the General Manager for completion.

Profit

  • Responsible for ensuring claims and safety-related training, prevention initiatives, and claims processing including investigation, client and guest follow-up, and compliant reporting are occurring consistently within the market.
  • Responsible for overall financial success including audit compliance and ensuring shuttle accounts follow audit protocol.
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll processing is completed successfully at all shuttle accounts; including sign-off on hours in a timely manner; collaboration with the local payroll department to ensure pay data is completed properly; and working with Human Resources Business Partner to ensure proper wage and hour compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring operational data is entered daily and accurately within the silo.
  • Responsible for financial management of all shuttle locations and ensuring adherence to budget and revenue enhancements as it relates to staffing, scheduling, and operational expenses.
  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual financial and operational reports as required.
  • Preparation and completion of budgets/monthly reviews of profit/loss for assigned portfolio.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze the market rate structures.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years in transportation or shuttle operations management, with multi-site oversight.
  • Strong workforce management experience; union labor experience a plus.
  • Financial acumen with P&L responsibility and budgeting expertise.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Must have experience managing P&Ls.
  • Must be willing to travel to different shuttle locations on a daily/weekly basis as needed to support operations.
  • Experience managing multi-site facilities is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment with high customer expectations.
  • Ability to cultivate the client-LAZ relationship.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and general Microsoft Office applications.
