Director of Outpatient Services

Reports To: Facility CEO
Supervises: Therapists, Counselors, and Case Managers
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Director of Outpatient Services oversees all aspects of clinical programming, ensuring the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services. This role involves supervising clinical staff, managing patient care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Director works closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment programs that align with best practices in addiction recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Oversight and Clinical Leadership

  • Provide leadership and supervision to therapists, counselors,case managers, and sometimes BHT’s, ensuring clinical excellence and adherence to treatment protocols.
  • Develop and implement clinical programming, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations, industry standards, and organizational goals.
  • Oversee admissions, discharges, and extensions of treatment, ensuring decisionsalignwith patient needs and clinical best practices.
  • Ensure all treatment schedules, staff schedules, and group therapy offerings are maintained and delivered effectively.
  • Conduct staff meetings, case reviews, and clinical supervision to support professional development and ensure high standards of patient care.
  • When needed,carrya clinical caseload to supplement client therapy needs.

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Provide direct clinical supervision to therapists and counselors working toward licensure.
  • Ensure ongoing training and professional development opportunities for clinical staff, enhancing knowledge in addiction treatment and evidence-based practices.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback, coaching, and corrective actions as necessary.

Compliance and Quality Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements such asCARF.
  • Conduct regular audits of patient records, documentation, and treatment plans to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Participate in utilization review meetings, representing patient needs in both clinical and financial considerations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve clinical operations and enhance patient outcomes.

Patient Care and Advocacy

  • Mediate patient and family concerns regarding treatment delivery, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, case management, and social services to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in addiction treatment and integrate new research into clinical programming.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Full clinical licensure required (LPC, LCDC, LCSW).
  • Master’s degree in social or behavioral sciencepreferred.
  • Full supervision licensure (LPC-S, LPC-MHSP, NCC, ACS)preferredupon hire.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Three years of experience in managing clinical programs preferred.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods while overseeing clinical operations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally for supplies or patient care materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinicalenvironment thatmay involve exposure to emotionally charged situations.
