Director of Procurement & Supply Chain

Summary

The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain is accountable for developing and executing the end‑to‑end supply chain strategy for a multi-site aluminum extrusion manufacturing network. This role oversees procurement, materials management including demand and capacity planning, logistics, inventory optimization, and supply chain governance.

The Director ensures secure, cost‑effective sourcing of billet, alloys, scrap, paint, thermal strut, chemical, packaging, MRO, capital equipment, and logistics services while driving operational excellence, supply continuity, working‑capital and DOH improvement, and risk mitigation. The role works closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to enable aligned, data‑driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi‑year procurement and supply chain strategy aligned with revenue growth, margin targets, and operational objectives.
  • Support multiple extrusion facilities through standardized processes, governance frameworks, and KPI reporting cadence.
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives with Sales, Operations, Planning, and Finance to synchronize supply chain strategies with commercial forecasts and production capabilities.
  • Drive working‑capital and DOH optimization across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Establish resilience frameworks to mitigate commodity volatility, supplier risk, and supply interruptions.

Raw Material & Commodity Procurement (Aluminum Focus)

  • Lead sourcing strategy for aluminum billet, scrap, alloying elements, Paint, Thermal Strut, additives, and tolling arrangements.
  • Oversee LME‑linked pricing, market intelligence, and hedging coordination in partnership with Finance.
  • Negotiate long‑term agreements, capacity reservations, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Build dual‑sourcing strategies and robust supply continuity plans.
  • Provide executive leadership with market outlooks, exposure analysis, and strategic recommendations.

Strategic Sourcing (Direct & Indirect)

  • Manage sourcing for dies, tooling, packaging, freight, MRO, consumables, and capital equipment.
  • Drive competitive bidding, supplier consolidation, and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization.
  • Establish category management roadmaps and supplier segmentation models.
  • Ensure alignment with ESG requirements and responsible sourcing practices.

Operations Planning & Inventory Management

  • Lead integrated planning processes including demand planning, capacity planning, and production scheduling alignment for raw materials.
  • Improve forecast accuracy, demand alignment, and production schedule adherence.
  • Direct integrated planning functions include demand planning, capacity modeling, and inventory strategy.
  • Optimize billet inventory, material flow, and scrap reduction efforts.
  • Implement inventory segmentation and appropriate safety stock methodologies across all plants.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Oversee inbound raw material logistics for On Time Delivery
  • Negotiate national freight contracts including truckload, LTL, and cross-border shipping.
  • Ensure compliance with cross‑border trade regulations and documentation.
  • Optimize warehouse layouts, storage capacity, and finished‑goods flow.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Deliver annual cost‑savings, cost‑avoidance, and productivity targets.
  • Partner with Finance to manage commodity exposure, hedging activities, and budgeting.
  • Lead cost modeling for commercial quoting, including material, logistics, and conversion cost components.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on KPIs, risks, and performance trends.
  • Continuously monitor supply markets and identify emerging supplier opportunities.

Digital Transformation & Systems

  • Lead ERP optimization initiatives and enhance supply chain systems functionality.
  • Implement advanced planning technologies and procurement automation tools.
  • Develop dashboards for commodity tracking, supplier performance, and inventory visibility.
  • Promote data‑driven decision-making across all plants.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing procurement and supply chain team.
  • Standardize policies, controls, and governance across multi‑site operations.
  • Develop succession plans and deepen capability within procurement, planning, and logistics teams.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related discipline. MBA preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive procurement & supply chain experience in manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in multi‑site operations.
  • Professional certifications (CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, SCMP) considered an asset.
  • Strong background in aluminum extrusion, metals manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments).
  • Experience managing LME‑indexed and commodity-based procurement.
  • Demonstrated success leading S&OP processes in make‑to‑order or engineer‑to‑order environments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normal office environment in a Manufacturing.

The annual base salary range for this position is $188,460 - $230,340. If you are hired, your annual base pay will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role.
