Director of Production & Live Events

The Director of Production & Live Events will coordinate, supervise and execute multiple aspects of live production for NDSU athletic events, which includes the creative, operational and administrative sides of live streaming broadcasts and in-house videoboard productions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct live streaming broadcasts for NDSU athletic events that meet or exceed all minimum requirements for the Summit League Network, Mountain West Network, or other designated platforms.
  • Produce feature content, press conferences, highlights, and other on-demand content for use on NDSU digital platforms and conference networks.
  • Lead a video production staff of camera operators, technical directors, graphics producers, replay operators and commentators, including the recruitment, training and scheduling of full-time employees, temporary employees and students.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff and Bison Sports Properties to fulfill all sponsorship, marketing and promotional obligations on videoboard presentations and streaming broadcasts.
  • Create and implement broadcast graphics for all streaming sports to meet or exceed conference network requirements.
  • Schedule live event broadcasts on NDSU or conference digital platforms, and create work schedules for production staff.
  • Review and develop job responsibilities and checklists for event staff, and provide instruction and feedback to staff before, during and after events.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and configuration, and plan for new equipment within an annual budget.
  • Coordinate with radio and television broadcast partners to send and/or receive audio and video feeds for live events.
  • Collaborate with facility/event operations staff to provide services for facility rentals as needed.

Hiring Range:

$45,500 +/year Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree broadcast journalism, video production, RTVF (Radio/Television/Film), digital media, communications, or another related field.

  • Two years of experience supervising staff and coordinating multiple aspects of live production for athletic events to include execution of creative, operational and administrative sides of a live broadcast.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in live event production in a collegiate athletic or sports environment.

Core Competencies:

  • Understanding of broadcast control room operations including, but not limited to, broadcast camera operation and assignments, video switchers, replay machines, and graphics software.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot audio and video equipment, scoreboard controls and videoboard controls.
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate results, choose the best solution and solve problems with adaptability while following strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively, resolve conflicts, and supervise a team of workers.
