Director of Purchasing

Job Summary:

This is a strategic leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The Director of Purchasing will provide high-level oversight of an experienced purchasing team and focus on streamlining processes, improving cost control, and ensuring alignment with company-wide operational goals.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the COO to align purchasing strategies with overall company goals
• Provide leadership and support to a skilled, established purchasing team
• Analyze material and labor costs, identifying opportunities for efficiency
• Maintain and enhance vendor relationships through proactive communication and negotiation
• Support the evaluation and adjustment of floor plans, specifications, and product standards
• Contribute to business planning, budget forecasting, and variance reduction
• Oversee purchasing department KPIs and ensure accountability across the team
• Champion process improvement while preserving quality and consistency

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• 3–5+ years in a purchasing leadership role within a residential building environment
• Experience managing or collaborating with executive leadership teams
• Proven success in optimizing costs without compromising build standards
• Skills:
• Strong strategic thinking and communication skills
• Ability to lead with influence and guide experienced teams
• Comfortable driving change collaboratively
• Location:
• Candidates based in Michigan preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
